After a hiatus from the mixtape circuit, Connecticut’s own DJ turned Producer DJ Semi returns with his first fully self-produced mixtape hosted by Nas himself. Reanimated is DJ Semi’s tribute to the Queens emcee featuring all new production, guest features, and Semi’s unique style of turntable wizardry. While the toughest of hip-hop critics say that Nas’ albums often lack consistency in the production department, DJ Semi took a year to craft 14 original beats that fit the cadence and rhyme style of the great Nasir Jones. Known for his production work for Chris Webby, Apathy, and more – Semi’s unique brand of authentic “east coast” hip-hop is a standout alongside the lyrical content of Escobar. Noteworthy guest verses on ‘Reanimated’ come from the likes of JAY Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, J. Cole, Jay Electronica, and Big Pun among others – artists who Nas has or would have liked to collaborate with. ‘Reanimated’ is the essential warm up to the release of the 20th Anniversary Illmatic XX dropping this April.
