B.o.B's Debut is Classic

Postby EminemBase » Apr 20th, '10, 09:26

At first I was gutted that there were so many features. But he still dominates the tracks so much that it feels fine.

Anyway, all the tracks bar "5th Dimension" have leaked now, I've listened to them in order bar that one and man... This is one of the best debuts in a long time. Pretty much every single song is insanely catchy, memorable, rich and full of substance in one way or another. Or in short doses. It's so musical and brilliant.

I think B.o.B will do great things for hip-hop. He's only 21 at current too. Imagine him at like 25 if he keeps improving. Crazy.

His lyrics are a bit corny imo. but his delivery is top class and that's what makes him great! Is there anything he can't do? He's singing, rapping, writing, producing, playing instruments.. and he's only 21!

Definitely gonna do big things for hip hop and pop music in general. I can't wait to the singles hit my country.

I've heard the singles aint out in the UK yet, is that true? Would explain why it's not possible to pre-order the album on http://www.play.com

EDIT: Ahh, now it is possible :D Must be because of my post.

^ I don't think they're corny. I can see how some would take that perception on them. But to me, he's like Andre 3k and Cudi, embracing this "I'm from outer-space" vibe. It's futuristic, philosophical and interesting, I think. Much better than gangsta bragging etc.

But aside from that, he's a hell of a writer for 21. I mean, very mature.

"If I could rewind, both the hands of time, still I would never find..." - That's great.

Also, second bit on "Ghost in the Machine" is fantastic.

"You say, I look fine, if only you could see what was on my mind / You'd see, a whole different side - I couldn't show you even if I tried / I musta got lost in time"

It's such slick, poetic writing. Feels very expansive and his delivery / singing just adds tons to it.

Finally something good from a "new generation" artist. I love the album, and it's not only because of the Eminem feature.

Mine too. :b:

I love "Magic" too actually. Such a nice little bit of creativity with that concept and the verses. "The Kids" chorus is just ridiculously catchy lmao. It's almost like perversely catchy, like a luliby, just TOO catchy ha.

I like them all but Magic annoys me. His flow is fire but the production reminds me too much of the 90's for some reason.

Just pre-ordered it.

www.play.com - search for Bobby ray

There's free delivery there, just remember to choose Euro in the right corner :)

you guys really think, say 5 years from now, people will look back and call this a classic? :facepalm very good album but not memorable enough, doesn't bring anything new to the game, doesn't have any impact. Definitely underwhelming compared to what I heard from him before.
