Xzibit, One of the Most Underrated Ever...

Postby EminemBase » May 29th, '10, 12:34

Was just reminded of Xzibit again with a post on a new track off his upcoming album the other day. And was just thinking how great he is again. He's never really gotten the props he deserves, on a big level. Much like Royce will probably stay too unless he signs to Shady and makes music with Em again.

X can really hang with the best of them when he's on-point and he can go hardcore, introspective, ironic. He's a true, all-round MC and I definitely think he deserves a mention in most people's top 20 at least. One of his best / best hip-hop songs ever is a song by him called "Paparazzi"...

- Paparazzi

Another stone cold all-timer is "What U See is What U Get", one of his more known tracks...

Some more classic tracks by him:

- Chamber Music
- Deeper
- Focus
- Let It Rain
- Get Your Walk On
- Kenny Parker Show 2001

I've been replaying his albums again for the past few days. He rarely hits upon a bad song. He sometimes has some not as good as others but nearly everything is consistent and great. I chuckled at a few punchlines which were some of my favourite in a while too...

- "Just because now I've got a little money, I think it's funny how mother fuckers think I should share / Cher like Sonny" - Really nice.

- "Pass that ass like a sprinter"

His flow is pure badass. I hope he makes more of an impact with his next album, I'll be checking for it. It's called MMX and is supposedly out this summer. Thoughts on X?

@One Mic

I think he's a much better lyricist than some guys I see included in top 20's.

Some of his shit is very impressive.

:y:

Actually he's been pretty consistent.

From 96-2006 he dropped albums every two years.

96 - At the Speed of Life
98 - 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz
00 - Restless
02 - Man vs. Machine
04 - Weapons of Mass Destruction
06 - Full Circle

And now he's dropping one in 2010. So he's only missed out one album on his timescale.

Well he definitely is underrated, he's better than what many people think. I went to his concert once, well tried, but due to my age couldn't get in. Pissed me off so much at the time, my sister and some friends did get in. Fuck 'em lol My favorite X track is The Foundation, love that one so much.

@AliJack

By him = On his album, under his name, he's rapping on it.

Just because it's a cover doesn't mean it wasn't made by Xzibit. Are you denying that's Xzibit on the track? = By him. If I said here's a classic written by Xzibit you'd have a point.

But I didn't. So stop reaching, you're too short, try another branch. Idiot.

Trying to pick pointless arguments just because you have a personal problem = You're a lame childish fuck, guess I'll stoop to your level:

I wouldn't say he's underrated. I just think not many people area aware that he was so good as an underground artist before he busted onto the main scene. I really only like his older shit, but he hasn't had anything good out in a while.

But you are right about Paparazzi, the whole albums At the Speed of Life and 40 Dayz 40 Nightz are unknown classics.

Best song .... At The Speed Of Life
