what's your definition of Hip Hop and what does it represent to you?

what about the controversial side of Hip Hop and the Hip Hop community's portrayal of women. what about it's involvement with gangs, drugs, aggression and weapons?

thoughtful posts will be appreciated. i'm basically just trying to get some research, for this essay/project i am working on.

I'm doing a project on the misinterpretation of rap music. Showing why the media potrayal of it is all wrong and shit. I'm pretty much using songs that destroy the media potrayal and the background of rap music as an example for the image it potrays.

Not that this helps you, I just wanted to say it.
