Also known as holophonic.

Basically, the recording is made by having a two microphones placed near where a person's head would be. That's why when you wear stereo headphones it sounds like 3D because everything is in perspective to your two ears, unlike most recording processes which I'm assuming is a single microphone.

Don't use speakers to listen because the sound waves will mix before reaching your ears and ruin the experience. Enjoy it people it's awesome .
