To me, "no promises" can have two meanings. But this is only in my opinion.

First, it could mean that a person does not want to promise anything in case they break them. So when you say to someone that you don't want any promises form him, it means that you don't wanna be disappointed in him.

Second, it could simply mean that it may not happen but hopes it may happen. Like, a girl would say to her boyfriend, "I may wanna sleep with you tonight. But no promises."

I didn't read all the responses but the "no promises" could mean he wants it to be with the girl he's talking about forever, but won't promise her it because , either he can't keep promises, or he knows somehting may happen one day that would prevent them from being together (breaking up, etc).

I think hes singing to her from heaven, and thats why he's invisible to her. And towards the end of the clip, it looks like shes standing in a grave yard, and she kneels on his grave in sadness. She looks depressed throughout the whole video. So yeah it looks like the guy has died, and his love is forever for her. He's following her in the video, and at the end when she finally turns around, hes gone. So its almost like she feels that hes there

kinda reminds me of the 'Mad' video by Ne-Yo... that was sad too
