Has anyone ever had sleep paralysis?

Postby OMEGA » Jun 16th, '11, 08:50

I'm in the mood for some scary shit. Has anyone ever had an episode of sleep paralysis? It seems that's pretty common, and it's one of the scariest things you can experience next to seeing a ghost. Basically you wake up but your brain and body are still sleeping, therefore you can't move or anything, and the best thing it could happen to you is to fall asleep as soon as possible.

I vividly remember the (thankfully) only 3 times that I've had this. It truly is a horrible feeling because you are helpless and fear takes over you. I remember having a loud "beeping" noise on my ears and, as much as I tried, I couldn't move a single bone in my body.

Some people can get so desperated, they start hallucinating and even feeling pain as if someone was beating them. Trully fucked up shit.

I had it once. My bedroom, from my eyes, actually looked like what I would picture hell to look like. I think I was hallucinating. Thank god that I feel asleep instantly. It actually felt like 5 demons were holding me down, scary as fuck.

I thought I was a special case or something until a few weeks ago, it's relieving that I'm not a freak :sweating:

I have it like every week, all you gotta do is cough repeatedly & you'll be able to move again. It happens if you sleep on your back mostly.

I thought I dreamed about this shit back in the days. But after reading this now it could have been the mentioned sleep paralysis. Wasn't a good feeling.

I've never had this before (luckily). I'd be mortified if I did.

I've heard of people having this though. Like they can't move, and they (think they) see shadow-y figures.

Sometimes when you get people saying they've seen a devil or whatever, a lot of the time they probably just had sleep paralysis.

Yeah, it's pretty horrible. I've read comments from people saying that they suffer from this regularly. It would drive me insane having this sensation frequently.

The feeling of dread and exasperation is frightening as fuck. Good thing I didn't see ghostly figures as other people though.

I kinda have something similar, fairly regularly too. Almost always happens when I fall asleep on my back. I don't know if it's better or worse though.. And I'm not exactly sure if you would count it as this or whatever the fuck it is.

To explain it somewhat in short...For those who care in the slightest.

Basically in any of my dreams I can wake myself up at any given point. I can just be thinking to myself this dream sucks and pretty much wake up..Or whatever. You get the point.

But at times... I have this weird dream or whatever. It's typically the same and pretty much the same feeling.. But it feels like something is always holding me down. Nothing specific is happening that I know of. It just feels like I can't do shit and I'm being restrained. By a higher power or something. I also cannot wake myself up from these dreams...at all. And sometimes I can see myself laying in bed like I'm looking at myself from the ceiling. But I always end up trying to wake myself up.. Usually by shaking or rocking back and forth. Cause I think it will work. But never does. Which is usually how I would wake myself up if I had trouble.

..And, the only difference between this and what you all are talking about is I still think I'm actually sleeping/dreaming. It's strange and I'm not quite sure myself though cause its too life like.

But anyways.. Anyone else have anything similar?

Wow that sounds pretty scary also. I've read about something similar. It's like some people have the ability to "get out" of their bodies and float around. Kinda like lucid dreaming, but it requires A LOT of practice to master it.

Years ago when I was like 8 I saw a program that taught you how to do this shit, but I was really scared since they mentioned that if you wake up abruptly while your soul is out of your body, you can't come back.
