Eminem's popularity

Postby gutawafang » Jan 30th, '09, 16:17

I wanna know.

Throughout the world, his fans are mostly males or females?
I hope you could provide evidence. Thanks!

I really wanna know to prove it to my ignorant fellow Singaporean friends who say that nobody listens to Eminem. He said 1 in every 1000000 people listens to Eminem and most are guys. WTH man.

Thanks in advance. :flower:

well i dont really know, here in Spain there used to be a lot of eminem fans (at first most of them were boys but then a lot of girls became big fans) now most of them dont care about him anymore, u know around 2002 everybody liked eminem (when 8 miles came out and all that) but now we cant hear him here that much, radio dont play his music anymo' ,i know he hasnt released a solo album in 4 years, but they stopped playing his music when encore came out. Mtv Spain plays his videos soemtimes but..its not like it used to be
i think thaat back in the day (1999,2000..) hi fans were mostly males, but the number of eminem females fans has increased a lot, and there are a lot fo eminme groupies ( altough they arent real eminemk fans) who make that the number bigger

the majority of this forum is guys so its not very accurate by askin the people here lol. But i remember i saw Em in concert in 2005 (amt3) n it was a sold out show, proof n em told the girls 2 make noise, then the guys 2 follow suite and they were disappointed cuz their was alot more ladies in the audience lol. but yeah if you watch any of his shows there's alot more girls. But i'd say his bigger fan's are typically males

Nah to be hatin' on Em, but I used to be a really "big" fan, like everyone is, but after Encore, I really started losin' my faith in him, and after hearing "Crack a Bottle", I'm not looking forward to "Relapse" as I probably would have been 3 or 4 years ago. To me, he's really fallin' off the edge, I think his 15 minutes of fame is up, and he's just trying to stretch it to a half hour. It don't mean that I don't listen to him still, but I listen to mostly his old music, from the "Marshall Mathers LP" days...There's an opinion from a girl... :smoking:

well here in the emirates back in the 2000's eminem was MASSIVE, every 1 knew him , i mean even my dad knew him (and he doesnt even like rap!!!) every 1 knew shady, 50 cent, obie and any 1 realated to his roster, we even have a supermarket named after his famous alias, lol
i believe his fan base mostly has guys in it cause alota girls basically listen to mainstream music anything from lil wayne to talor swift, they'll rock to what ever they like while most guys actually LISTEN to words and realte to songs on a different level.girls probably digg eminem based on his looks but guys will probably realate to his upbringing or his lyrical abilities

As a female, I can agree with the first part of your comment, but the second part about girls not listening to the words or relating is bias. Everybody is different, I can't relate to everything he says, but I do have an acoholic, drug-addicted, prostitute, and homeless mother. But I feel his lyrics, he has music for everything, if you want angry music, you get it, if you want something emotional you get it, if you want something funny or contriversal you get it. Trust me, girls do listen to the music. I listen to a little bit of everything, but I always try to find music I can relate to, that's the main thing I look for besides talent, etc...

It's great to know female fans here. But I guess we are diverting from the topic. Answer my question. :flower:

Not to starting any controversy, but sure, Em's a legend with making it as a white rapper, but the true legends r Pac, Biggie, Nas, Dre, Jay-Z...

... Nah, but for real, I think there's a good mixture of Em's fans. I think at the height of his career (2000 and 2002), he had a lot of female fans, but that's only because when you're at the top like that, the media tends to make you out to be some sort of sex symbol. And lots of women cling onto that. I think now though, if you were to ask people who is going to buy Relapse, the majority of them would be men.

That's a good one man. :y: Close to what I'm looking for. I want concrete evidence. LOL!
