Some interesting stuff here guys. :y:

I had the ability to motivate myself to start lifting on my own, I was tired of being the 5'2" and tiny (like 115-120) ...now I'm a 5'11" at 190. I always liked listening to music, and having time to think for myself, so lifting alone just made sense. However, now that I am almost to where I want to be physically, I am starting to lift with my friends that always showed interest in working out, but never put a foot in the door.

Once I get them to the gym for the first few times, they seem to really enjoy it. After you get the first few sessions out of the way, a lot of the soreness that comes after the workout will decrease, and your body will start to crave the endorphin stimulation. Your mind will crave the image transformation, and basically the shit becomes addicting, fun, and satisfying.

I have had a great experience with weight-lifting thus far, and would be happy to help anyone out if you have any questions or whatever, as I consider myself fairly knowledgeable at this point. Granted, exercise in general isn't an exact science, but I could probably give you a few pointers.

Edit.

Here is a great website with a lot of useful information.

I am diabetic, so diet is part of my everyday life. I never eat between lunches, can't eat potato chips, can't eat nachos, nothing. But i'm lazy as fuck. And that's the big problem.

I've been gyming for a couple of years. I was a very skinny lad so obviously after 6 months I had broader shoulders and people noticed a difference. But TBH, I have put a huge amount of effort in with not that good results. I go to the gym 4 or 5 times a week, eat well but I am not gaining much more muscle.

I think my natural body equilibrium means that I can't gain much more weight. I'm 6'0 and I've pretty much gone from around 65kg to 75kg but I just can't get any higher than that.

I spoke to a bodybuilder on a plane once who told me for my height and body type I'd need 3000 calories a day at least for good gains. The majority of that should be protein. That's crazy expensive.

But having said all that, I'm making a great effort for the next 2 months to see what I can do. One thing I've been missing is lots of cardio to really get my bodyfat down a couple of %. Of course that means I need to eat even more calories! I'm also switching from working every muscle all the time to doing different muscle sets each day. Who knows what the answer is.

But anyway, regardless of the results its all good for your health ain't it.

im still a teenager so i dont expect people to really take my advice, but ive been doing a workout 2/3 times a week, for about 45 mins. I dont take breaks, and i do the same 4 or 5 exersizes over and over again, but i actually get results from it. Loads of people at my school think i take drugs or something, and other people think i am permenantly tensing, because while im not a bodybuilder, i have about 8% body fat and i have a decent amount of muscle.
How do you guys recommend keeping my body fat low? Im trying to get better at running, as i used to do a couple of miles a day, and now i can run about 1 mile :( but im thinking i should alter my diet a bit, as i eat more than most people my age do

Nutrition seems to be the biggest challenge people have when trying to either lose weight or gain muscle.

Honestly, fuck that shit. I've seen quite a lot of people that do not follow strict, ridiculous diets, are not crazy about how many calories/carbs they eat, are not counting calories on the back of products, etc. who look pretty ripped with just going to the gym. I'm just gonna try to eat healthy, which is something that I pretty much always do (never drink sodas, rarely if ever eat fast food, etc.).

Right now I think I'm pretty fit at 6'2 177 pounds. I'll keep doing P90x because I noted my arms (biceps/triceps) are getting a nice shape and because I still want/need to burn some body fat I still have.

Tomorrow I'll start a new period of P90x for the Summer, so I plan to push myself harder than ever. I'll probably go out running on Sundays too since I kinda miss those days, and the weather around here is pretty nice right now.
