Forum rapping and flow

Postby Just Silver » Oct 16th, '11, 18:29

I have noticed its very hard to write a piece that flows perfect and not a lil choppy and using signature "multis" and "forum size words" i feel these multis are overrated and hurt flow sometimes
I feel like rapping in a forum is more of an educated chore rather than hip hop

anyone else know what i can do to get out of this mindset lol
im supposed to b going to a studio soon with barely any audio experience and only some TR sessions

Go & listen to Spoonful ,listening to him will clear all your doubts that you have over the use of Multis in Lyrics & other things too.

they aren't for everyone, don't force it. If you can pull it off, it just makes your song that much better.

ax-d hardly has multis and he's still pretty dope :y:

Word, Multis only really sound good if done effortlessly. If forced, they're terrible. Tech n9ne and prime Em are good examples of this.

that's why it's hard to actually like like people who just write on forums. they all sound basically the same, since everyone uses multis and tries to make them at least 4-5 syllables and they end up sounding forced and awkward.

So in order to flow your rhyme at the end of the bar has to hit the snare right?

never force multies but thats not the point of this thread.

alot of people do text style different than you should audio. their bars are longer tryin to fit in more.
basically saying in one line what an audio line would say in two.
if you can shorten your lines and maybe have more, you can say the same thing in the same amount,
catch the flow better, and would be more likely to fit it to a beat :y:
flow on text is however you perceive it. unless they post the beat and u get the same vibe on the beat. you may not even be able to tell if the writer intended a fast or slow flow.
verbose lyrics or forced multies hinder a flow and should be avoided of course.

@Trimms, not necessarily though its the most common. you have to keep in time with an instrument(most commonly snare, kick, clap) and your melody has to "flow" with the beat.
almost like you could figure out the lyrical melody from the instrumental.
However i cant flow audio so im not your best teacher. i dropped a track Maybe said i had a nice flow, i posted it and everyone else ragged on it so
