First, you're assuming there's life forms there. That hasn't been established yet.

Secondly, we ARE seeing it 600 years in the past. So perhaps if we DO find intelligent life, then yes, unless they haven't blown themselves up (Fermi's Paradox) they'd advance from their state 600 years ago...

It would take 600 years to get there assuming we could have a space craft that can manage to travel at the speed of light for 600 years and somehow get a crew that can, as Hesky said, sustain generations of life without inbred breeding and some how inherit the knowledge of using the ship. It's stupid to really put this out there, we won't find out much from it 600 light years away and every member that posted in this topic will be dead before legitimate news comes out on this.

It pains me to see such elementary comments on such a magnificent discovery such as this. Even in it's early stages, the fact that we've found a planet that's so close to being Earth-like is astounding, and all you guys can think of is "I wonder if NASA has watched me jerk it?".
