Im thinking about it and u know what? Externals are usually USB. USB timing is bad which means u lose 1/100 of a second when u record and your verse goes off beat. I had those problems not long ago. Then i got my SB Live Pro and just today my brand new Audigy Pro 24 bit.

PCI Port is internal. But theoretically, serial ports are slower but more stable than usb.

Internal is still the best way.

it depends on what you want to do... if it's just for better sound, that sound card that costs $39 will probably be enough... but if you want to make some kind of home studio, you need a better sound card, like the ones Coccoa talked about, or some M-Audio sound cards, or some EMU sound cards

ok but is it just to have a better sound when you listen to music or movies, or you want to be able to plug a mic in it and to record stuff? for that you'd need a sound card with a pre amp.... look for the "mobile recording" section, there are some good ones

if it's just for better sound when you listen to music, buy the one for $39, that's a good deal :8)
