its kinda like video games being blamed. its stupid to blame shit like this when its fully the criminal's fault for the crime. u may be influenced to do some, but ur ultimately makin the decision urself. but if they tell me to fuck bitches, i follow direct orders
Life is just one big lesson

i hear people say all the time, "this never use to happen back in the day."
violence has been in music since before rap.
Folson Prison Blues by Johnny Cash
"I killed a man in Reno, just to watch him die."

Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash
"i took a shot of cocaine and i shot my woman down."
just to name a couple
i dont understand why these people think rap is the first genre to have "violent" lyrics. obviously its not the music if there were violent lyrics 50 years ago.

sorta a un-fair question, theres thousands of rappers and MC's so to say they all represent the same thing aint fair, listen to a dipset song, witch is the music parents and goverments place all rappers/MC's as, then listen to a Jin song

as for the rapping of guns and drugs if your dumb enough to do shit coz a rapper talks about it, you already fucked up in the head so dont blame the music

All the philosopherz said that music affects people so fuckin much. i think that's true... BUT people chose that affect by theirselves. cuz they wanna be affected that way. thats why we listen to hip-hop and the guy that is sittin near me right now not!

It's simple

People want a scapegoat to blame, so they blame video games, music etc.
Because obviously it can't be the way people act to other people that creates the shit in the first place.

i basically agree with Maybe, people should know where the thin line between reality and pure bullshit is.. -_- and Eminem's music is one of the best examples - i.e. 'Kim' song. if a kid is stupid enough to believe it's true, he should be locked up in a mental hospital.

and all the shit about running around with guns, or raping women or anythin else.. same with tv and video games. it surely has some influence, but come on.. a normal man won't go out with a knife after watching a movie and stab an old lady. :confusion:

As Marilyn Manson once said in an article people have committed murder long before there ever was an entertainment industry (he referred Cain killing his brother in the Bible) - like Marilyn I think the ability to commit violence and murder is something inherent in mankind, some people can just control it while some can't

maybe violent computer games, music and movies can be factors that push people over the edge but only if there's something wrong with them in the first place.

people are responsible for their own actions, not for everybody else's - hip hop reflects what's going on in the minds of people, it's not a brainwashing method

The thing is, parents see things soo differently than their kids do. Think about it. The older you get, the more you take things exactly as they are. Kids don't. That's why a kid can play a violent video game without really understanding concepts of life and death. That's why kids can watch movies packed with sexual innuendos and not pick up on any of them. Blaming violence on music is taking the easy way out.
Yes, we can.
