50 Cent

Postby James R. » Aug 11th, '07, 16:06

Claims that if Kanye outsells him on Sept 11, 2007 he'll never drop another album. I know this could be a completely bullshit statement but just the THOUGHT of never hearing another whack ass 50 song is enough to not only make me buy the retail Kanye CD but drive around my city playing it full blast.

Heres one thing i never got..

Dont the sales count how many cd's were ordered by the stores, not how many people bought cds from the stores? Coz then this whole album sales idiocy is bullshit (even on popularity scale).. u can buy all the albums u want, the label with the fattest pockets is gonna have the most contacts and the most stores recieving packs of their cd's.

Such a big deal made about one least creative album of the year (curtis), 2nd being the most pseudo-concious album with annoying production.

I think online 50 fans are now scared to admit their gonna buy the album,
seriously, despite all this hate on 50, I still think he'll sell more.

I'm not buying either album, but that doesn't mean I won't feel bad during the download.

@ Asp. I don't think that's how they count record sales because any flop CD would just lose stores money, not the artist or the label.

No but think about it. the store orders one big box for the artist thats most POP because they know they'll sell it, if the artist is not doing good they just not gonna buy anymore cds and keep the cds in rotation at the store for a few years till they sell em... get me? . I worked in a music store so i kinda know how that works (only thing is i worked in a Russian hip hop oriented store that didnt really care about reporting sales. to charts, not the those numbers would matter)

fuck curtis.

Ofcourse they cant always sell all the albums, no store ever does, thats why they don't throw away albums, they just use them till all the albums are sold out. When they are out of cds and u come in there and ask them to order, they order again, a lil box with maybe 10-20 of that same cd. along with others they are out of.

But the stores still order cds in a decent nuber, they don't ask for 1 cd to be sent. Just becuase a cd isnt sold right away, doesnt mean its a loss. It should be sold eventually. When they make their accounting, they don't assume they'll sell every record in the music store.. understand?

I was actually talking about how they count record sales, im assuming they counting the number of cds sold to each local shop or shipped to warehouses.
