This is fucked.

These assholes are raiding a man "suspected of distributing marijuana". You know what they find? A grinder, a little bit of pot, and a pipe. Personal use, my friends, personal use.

They shoot his caged pit bull, and his Corgi. A fucking lap dog is a danger to police in body armor? Come on...

They didn't even know there was a kid there. They tried charging him with child endangerment after the fact, too; as if busting in his house with semi-automatic weapons drawn is less dangerous than the guy smoking some pot at the end of the day to chill out.

In Columbia, marijuana is decriminalized--meaning the citizens decided it should be the lowest police priority. Personal use is a civil infraction, like a traffic ticket.

The man was clearly distraught about this. Over what? He broke a law that 70% of the populace in Columbia agreed wasn't worth enforcing, hence the decriminalization measure that passed years ago.

However, I'll have to point out that no medical tests currently in use support the idea that Marijuana damages the brain in any way. It's a view that's been propagated due to an early study where a scientist subjected Rhesus Monkeys to high amounts of smoke--enough that they weren't getting much oxygen. Clearly, the experiment's results are quite questionable at best.

My view on it is that we're talking about something that is completely natural, and safer than alcohol. Because this guy chose a safer drug than those currently legal, his door was kicked down, and his dogs were shot, on top of his arrest.

Anyway, I'm sure that's not much of a shock to you. You seem to be the type that isn't surprised when political pressure distorts facts on a wide scale, even if there is little basis for it in science.

Weed culture annoys me. People who smoke put themselves on a pedestal, like they're better than non smokers.They purposely go out of their way to conform to the stereotypes, most of them. People will actually purchase and aquire things that suggest to others that they smoke. And worse, some people who don't smoke pose as smokers by leaving unused parephenalia and such in plain view, all for the glorification of their ego.
Why?
Why is this idolatry necessary?
Why must everything involving this drug be so god damned cliche and annoying?
Honestly, I don't mind the drug. It's just most of the people who use it are idiots to begin with who have no other way to conform to (what they view as) society.

That's understandable.

It's turned into a culture because of it's illegality. You'll notice our Dutch members here don't glorify it at all. It's that way because of the ostracization of a section of our society.

I agree that the marijuana culture is cliche. However, that can be said for many counter-culture type things. Look at what happened with punk music, rap music, or any kind of music. Juggalo's, even; such a small movement, yet filled with the same type of bullshit.

It'll happen with any "culture", I suppose.
