azcentral.com Wrote:ALCOA, Tenn. - Police have arrested a woman who claimed a white substance she was eating when she was pulled over was a powered-sugar doughnut after the material tested positive for cocaine.
Lt. Paul Gilbert said Whitney Alison Holte, 21, was arrested Thursday. A vehicle hit a concrete highway barrier in Knox County, and a truck driver who witnessed the collision called it in, then followed the vehicle south on Alcoa Highway.
An officer reported seeing the vehicle leave the roadway twice before he pulled the car over.
When the officer approached, he said the driver was eating a white powdered substance. She claimed it was a sugar doughnut, and the officer told her to spit it out. She spat into a napkin and put it in her pocket.
The officer said the driver told him she didn't have a license, only an identification card. A background check showed a suspended driver license.
A field test on the contents of the napkin indicated cocaine, 3 grams in all.
Holte is charged with possession of a Schedule II drug.
She was also cited for driving on a suspended license, violation of the financial responsibility/insurance statute, failure to maintain lane of traffic, possession of drug paraphernalia and contempt of court.
