The title sounds odd, I didn't know how else to word it, but...
We need to be tested to get a driver's license, we need to be a certain age to gamble, buy alcohol, get a loan (which includes someone else signing as well), to go to a strip club, etc.
I mean, I can't go to a strip club when I'm 14 but I can have a child...
Yet there is NOTHING that has to be done to allow someone to have a child. I find this odd only in the sense that bringing another life into this world I feel is possibly one of the most powerful things we can all do.
Someone had mentioned to me once and this came to mind with Coleons debate, someone had said you should need a license to be able to have a child.
I understand there is a lot more involved in this, the most obvious being "if you say you'd need a license would that mean you'd have to get an abortion if you got pregnant without one?" but I don't want this to turn into a religious debate, or one about abortion being murder.
EDIT: let me also add the fact that to adopt you need to be approved, and I'm sure you all know how strict that process is.
I'm just really curious what you all think, should you need some proof (being the license) you're able to afford, house, clothe, feed, school, take care of, and are responsible enough to have a child?
