You hate people because they choose to use the safer alternative, compared to our other drugs?
Really? I can understand contempt for people with lack of ambition, but to lump all people who use marijuana into that group is an inaccurate mindset. The past three presidents have all used marijuana, many (many) of our celebrities have use/still use marijuana, and music has been influenced by marijuana since the 1930's.
There are plenty of successful people who use marijuana. For instance, the "Stiletto Stoners" pieces, showcasing upper class women that like to relax with a joint (instead of a martini) after coming home from their high-paying careers. Granted, there are plenty of people that don't fit this model; however, that's not because of the drug, it's because of the people who decide to use it.
A perfect example is this: rednecks love beer. They sit in their trailer parks, drinkin' beer, and talking about how they'd like to hang an uppity nigger from time to time. Low class, and quite detestable. Then you have the college kid, working towards his BA or BS, who drinks in his free time when not studying, for recreation. Not so detestable. Perhaps a bit detrimental to his studies, due to hangovers and such, but not the same situation as the redneck.
Granted there are people that smoke marijuana that are lazy degenerates. And then there are people who choose to relax with a joint as opposed to a beer because it's the safer option, pretty much any way you look at it. Since recreational drugs (such as alcohol) are accepted in our culture to some degree, I don't see why marijuana (the safer choice) seems like such a bad thing to you.
Perhaps you could expand on your statement?
