I posted this in College Crib, but I know that section is not viewed often, so I'm making 2 threads, my apologies for any confusion.


I'm doing a paper on ritual drinking, and my paper is specifically on ritual drinking at other colleges, right now I have some info, trying to go for different states, BUT having any info from a college in another country would be PERFECT.

If anyone can give me info that would include stuff like:

What drinking rituals do you have at your college? (Specific days, holidays, weekends, and what you do i.e. beer pong, keg stands etc.)
-Also, with this, can include anything you do as a freshman versus a senior, things of that nature.

Are the rituals out of hand, or not taken over the edge?
Are they good/bad, and why?
Does it help for partying, socializing, etc?

And if you respond please put the college, it's location, and your full name cause I'd have to site you.

So.. we basically drink on every possible occasion.. Whether it's a regular day or weekend, we usually finish the classes and someone comes up with the idea of having a beer or two, just to relax and chat about shit. We end up in a pub or when the weather gets warmer, we sit in the park or at the river bank.

It's a common thing that student pubs include "beer mondays" or "thursdays" in their offer, you pay $5 to get in and you drink beer for free all night, so you know how it usually ends up..

Not too many rituals to be honest. My mate who studies in the UK tells me stories about their drinking games, but we've never had this here. It's usually just drinking and talking shit, smoking sheesha and having fun in general.

I guess it helps socialising, cause during the classes, you don't have much time to talk and get to know each other well. But after the 'boring' part is over, you can finally sit back, relax and chat a little bit. Alcohol usually helps out with the socialising, so hmm.. I wouldn't say it's bad, unless of course your plan is to get wasted and drown in your own puke on a daily basis.
