The Eminem Show, Start of Eminem's Decline?

Postby Fa-Q » Apr 3rd, '10, 18:54

A while back I saw a Facebook group that was entitled "A Little Bit Died Inside Of Me When Eminem Show Was Released." Yea I know, long ass name. Anyway I am under the opinion of it is his best work because, not only did he stay on tact lyrically but he produced 90 percent of the Album. I think it is an classic and I though that when I heard, and eventually bought it. But I'm wondering are there any Eminem Show haters and if so, why? Is it because it had a poppy feel with songs like Business and Without Me? What was it?

the start of his decline?

you know, come to think of it, he doesn't really have any great albums after that....

of course, encore was when he was doing a lot of drugs, making it now that worth listening to, and re up was when eminem was dealing with a lot of distress because of proof's death. relapse was his first thing after years...

i dunno, maybe eminem went all out with the eminem show. just like the simpsons, they put all their best ideas into a few seasons, rather than mixing them up with great episodes and terrible episodes. they're out of ideas, now it's mostly all terrible episodes.
I'm that dude.

I want to talk shit, but i'll probably get banned for it from now on :sweating:

It's #2, 3, or 4 for me. #1 is undoubtedly The MMLP, and I go back and forth between The Eminem Show, The Black Album, and Ready to Die.

that's because they don't like his style in it. I love TES but I don't see anything that hard to understand here. Em's style from the beats to the hooks, lyrics.. CLEARLY different from the SSLP/MMLP phase, even his voice is deeper too. Some like TES's style, some don't. Nature.

it would be awesome... if relapse 2 ended up being better than the eminem show.

This, but the 8mile soundtrack was Eminem at his best in my opinion. The worst verse was on Love me and that verse was dope as fuck,he nailed everything on that cd and he made a mockery of the others on the cd who include Rakim,Nas,Jay Z and 50 Cent who was at his peak then.

In terms of a rap album, I think MMLP is still better but musically I think TES is his best album all around. People were just hating on the new direction he was headed in. They wanted him to be Mr. "Just Don't Give A Fuck" or "You're a Faggot" for his entire career, but TES was showing his maturity and growth as an artist, and a person in general.
