wtf is "awning" :laughing:

and to those that ignored my previous post...he rhymes it with "promise"

I think you'll find it is awning.

Here is the definition...

n. A rooflike structure, often made of canvas or plastic, that serves as a shelter, as over a storefront, window, door, or deck

The English language, learn it.

a shingle is a piece of a roof its def not lonely...its "on it"

"promise" - "on it" is an ok slant rhyme..nothing bad about it

it would be okay if they weren't so far apart. the rhyme is hidden.

man.. this song. i heard the intro & loved it. then those drums came in

everytime i listen to it drums don't seem out of place at all...seems to fit in with everything else
and i think he uses the drum pattern to lengthen his bars
i guess if you don't like it, your not gonna be convinced to like it lol so i should just stop right here

I roof for a living, and I can tell you that shingles don't go on awnings.

Yes it probably is, but not when English is your second language...and quite frankly I don't even know what it's called in my native tongue either! lol

I actually thought it was a slang, not even a real word.

But, let's say that the rhyming scheme in the latter part of the 3rd verse is really questionable lol

Yes, and Eminem probably knows all about roof too, so there's NO way he made a mistake :unsure:

You guys are fucking idiots.

No more beef flingers, no more drama from now on,
I promise to focus solely on handling my responsibility’s as a father
So I solemnly swear to always treat this roof like my daughters
And raise it
You couldn’t lift a single shingle on it.

Everything I italicized rhymes or are slant rhymes. Use your ears.

He is also repeating the "ah" sound.

This, altho in england we dont use shingles lol, plus we do traditional roofs ( well i do anyways)

requires more skill :shifty:

Don't disrespect my craft. And fuck metal and flat roofs. It's against nature.

@Chiasmus
British English uses "learnt" in lieu of "learned".

@r star
Americans know that awnings don't have shingles.

so i've just been forced to post coz of this stupid thread! SERIOUSLY?? does every single line he says gotta rhyme with something? we all know he's got crazy rhymes, even in this song! why does it matter if a single line doesn't rhyme?? :facepalm, well, it does show how good Em is, no other rapper could ever get such criticism hahaha

Ok cool, fair enough American. And GGGG if you do it as a living I'm not going to argue with you. Eminem doesn't roof for a living though, he wouldn't know otheriwse.

I'm still pretty sure it's 'awning'. I guess we can only wait til the official lyrics come out to see. I'll direct you back here when they do, maybe. :sweating:
