Ok cool, fair enough American. And GGGG if you do it as a living I'm not going to argue with you. Eminem doesn't roof for a living though, he wouldn't know otheriwse.

I'm still pretty sure it's 'awning'. I guess we can only wait til the official lyrics come out to see. I'll direct you back here when they do, maybe. :sweating:

i'll direct you back as well...count on that

Assonance is an effective technique in itself.

Everything I italicized rhymes or are slant rhymes. Use your ears.

He is also repeating the "ah" sound.

LOL. the only word that sounds in the least bit similar, syllabically, to "on it," is promise. the others FAIL as rhymes, or even slant rhymes. always rhymes with drama? :facepalm2

any collection of words with similar vowel sounds is classed as assonance & not rhyme.

Do you not know how rhyming works in hip hop? Btw, your avatar is really really gay.

Does it really matter that there's one line that MIGHT not rhyme?

YES, because that just means he is getting lazy (which I don't believe) or that he just tries to be like the other new rappers who just say cool lines but don't rhyme. I just don't want Em to be like the other rappers. Cuz to me, this song is basically a generic current rapper song tunes 10 because Eminem is just too great.

And no it doesn't really annoys my enjoyment of the song, but there's always the "art" side and the just plain "is it good or not side". Hey, I'm a fan of Young Jeezy too and he says thing some times that don't rhyme and I still like it.

Facepalm everything I said prior to this post.

Haha, just listened to that bit of the song again, and I reckon "a single shingle on it" fits better. Ima change my opinion on the lyric, if it's not too late! Especially now I know how the Americans use the word shingle. Sorry for trying to tell you it was "awning", I did think it was that at first. It's "on it".

I think Em was used to rhyming with the accent where he could twist words, so when he writes newer stuff he's thinking about the rhymes with an accent. So that don't rhyme that well when he raps them.

Then again, thats probably a pile of old bullshit.

YES...

If that's the case, i've got a small complaint of my own! Eminem's english is degrading terribly! on the first verse he says "undoubtABly" which doesn't exist in english! I know it doesn't exist because when i write it, my spell-checker corrects it to "undoubtedly". all lyrics to the song claim its undoubtedly probably because their spell-checkers corrected it but I'M 100% SURE it was undoubtably, it even rhymes better with "OUT TO BE/DOWN ON ME/BALCONY/HOW CAN HE/SALARY/HOURLY/OUT OF HIM"! I've seriously lost all faith in Eminem. I had so much hope in the new album but now it's gone. When i heard the song, i fell in love with it but now i can't stand it. IT SUCKS! I WANT OLD LITERATE EMINEM BACK :(

Was that an insult? I thought it was you openly admitting that you don't know anything. I find it funny how people degrade and make fun of insults and use that as a comeback.

He doesn't try and rhyme it with that. It's the reason he emphasizes his delivery on it, to create a symmetry of vocal energy.

He's no doubt purposely leaving a lack of rhyme there to let what he's saying resonate more strongly. He's grown out of the "I'm a rapper so every single thing has to rhyme constantly" phase and did a long time ago. He's a complete lyricist and poet, he can mix it up.
