We weren't there in 2006 but we're back now :8) Christian Poulsen, Thomas Sørensen, Nicklas Bendtner and Daniel Agger are gonna bring us the trophy :D

^^ Brian Laudrup's equalizer against Brazil in 1998. That world cup is one of my happiest football memories and Laudrup has been my idol ever since. Best celebration ever!

Yeah, the world cup is usually the only time that I actually watch soccer on tv. Can't wait for this whole thing to start and do some world cup betting to win money. There are several games that might not have high odds but they are good to win for sure. Greece-Argentina, USA-Algeria, etc.

What is with these provisional selections, especially England? Cole, Baines & Warnock. Why need THREE left backs? I mean Jagielka and Micah Richards are more complete players than them..i can understand taking 2 Left Bakcs but 3 in the provisonal. Also, where is Ashley Young? Joe Cole, who is a great palyer and probably was one of the best players in the last World Cup next to Hargreaves has just come back from injury and is NO WHERE near his best. With the season Young has had, he's been hard done by.

Also feel that Lee Cattermole deserved a place over Huddlestone, gives Engkland more defensive bite and energy btu upfront why is that lump Heskey selected? At the end of the day, fowards are meant to get goals and he's done harldy that with Villa, let alone England. Last time for Engalnd was against Macedonia so i ain't holding my breath this summer, why not take Agbonglahor (or however dfuck you spell it). Don't know hwy i wrote all this, i don't even support England, and cos of work, i probably won't be able to watch most of the games

Oh yeah my prediction from the other indentical thread
Tornado wrote:Group A
Group does have 4 dope teams there, anything could happen

France: well past their prime, very lucky to be there , actualy feel they'll struggle and lose out to S.Africa (out)
Mexico : always qualify easily due to lack of oposition in CONCAF Qualifying but still have quality ( 1st)
South Africa: wan them to do well but dont see it happening much tho should qualify (2nd)
Uruguay: can't see them making an impact apart from Forlan (out GS)

Group B
Group is more dangerous than it looks

Argentina : shambles under Marradona but Nigeria should be only main threat (1st)
Greece : Won Euro 2004, but out thinking everyone again in Africa? Don't see lightning striking twice (out)
Nigeria : Second best of the african teams, continent advantage should give them the edge over S.Korea (2nd)
South Korea: Had a good 02 tourney but lack star quality. Should be hard to beat (out)

Group C
Good draw for england

Algeria: cannon fodder. that's not to say they'll lie down thopugh, theyll play with passion (out)
England: Easy enough for now, just need to beat USA for confidence first (1st)
Slovenia: they'll be harder than you think, although England won 3-0. could pose probs or the other 3 teams tho (out)
United States: have a split personality like we saw in confederations cup but im sure they'll be up for beating england (2nd)

Group D
Group of death 1. Yes there's more than 1 of them..

Australia : now they'll be hard to beat and with Cahill, pose a threat. unfortunately no other star quality players on Cahill's level but can see them being too strong for Ghana (2nd)
Germany: NEVER rule out germany. They have a never say die attitude and will force and scrap to win. Ballack and Klose will be vital (1st)
Ghana: unfortunalty, the passion and continent advantage will be inferior to Germany but may be too much (out)
Serbia: They won their group and have a rock-like defence with vidic at back but newbies in unknown territory...dont see any joy (out)

Group E
not intrsting but close

Cameroon: Solid defence and with Eto there, they could go far (2nd)
Denmark: Decent enought team but no spark for then. Good, but not good enough (out)
Japan :Apart from Nakmure, they're very ordinary (out)
Netherlands: I do feel, this could be their time so long as Van Persie comes back. Best midfield with Spain

Group F
If you thought England had it easy...

Italy: they're a pale imitaion of theor former selves (no apoplgies Menzo) BUT Cannavaro, Zambrotta, Pirlo , Gattuso and Buffon will carry the team. They'll stroll through the group. They'll struggle in attack though.. (1st)
New Zealand; cant comment (out)
Paraguay: may edge slovakia, i feel (2nd)
Slovakia: cant comment, i get the mixed up with slovenia :sweating: lol (out)

Group G
Group Of Death..literally if North Korea dont win (which they wont)
Brazil : Cant compare to the brazil we know and love but still deadly, england have found (1st)
Ivory Coast: They will be the Underdogs who'll suprise prtugal by knocking them out and giv Brazil a run for their money (2nd)
Korea DPR (PRK): cannon fodder, (out)
Portugal: The liverpool of the tournament. without Ronaldo, they're average at best, struggled through qualifying and am expecting them to flop (out)

Group H
Yawn.....

Chile : battle with Honduras for who's the worst eam in the tournament. (out)
Honduras: Ditto but names reversed (out)
Spain: Either they, Brazil or Holland wins it for me. Best strikeforce hands down (out)
Switzerland: It annoys me that they'll be second in a lacklusture group while some group teams'll gone. ah well.. (2nd)

SO That'll mean

Second Round
Mexico V Nigeria: 2-1 (AET) Mexico, slightly too much quality
England V Australia: 2-0, intresting, passionite game. A Rooney inspired England will battle out winners
Argentina V South Africa: 0-1 SA. If Marradona is in charge i sense a big upset, esp if argentina arent playing well
Germany V USA: 3-0: dull, standard and routine. Thats Germay. and the game? should be easy in all honesty
Holland V Paraguay: 4-1, Paraguay are one round too far in the tornamrnt. it emds here..
Brazil V Switerland: 3-0, A Case of Brazils patience over dull swiss defending for 90 mins
Italy V Cameroon: 1-0 (AET) Tight unexciting game with Italy getting their one goal and hanging on while cam fights till the death
Spain V Ivory Coast: 4-3 Gmae of the second round, Spain's attacking edge will just overcome Ivory Coast

QFinals

Mexico V England: 0-2, If England are playing to an OK standard they should win but not easily
Holland V Brazil: 2-2 Holland win on Pens: This ll be Game of the torney and although Brazil got good attack, Hollands is better so they should prevail even if it comes to pens
Argentina V Germany: 1-3 Bye Marradona. Efficent Germans
Italy V Spain 0-2: Spain are better overall but esp in attack which break the stubborn Italians

S Finals

England V Germany: 2-3 AET: This ll be passionite. Can see England leading but Germans come back and in ET nick the inner. Or it'll go to pens :D

Holland V Spain: 2-1 just cos i fancy holland

Final
Holland V Germany: 2-0 Van Der Varrt and Van Persie send Holland into the History pages Win

My Prediction
3K & Out

Baines are Warnock are both better than Richards & Jagielka. Warnock wont make the 23 anyway.

Ashley Young has never done anything for England - he looks out of depth at international level. He hasnt had that good a season. It was the season before that last that he was on fire.

I hate Heskey but his partnership with Rooney has never really failed, regardless of Heskey's scoring ability, he works well with Rooney.

The worst though - no Cambiasso in Argentina. That guy, bar Makelele, is the best defensive midfield in the last 15 years. Couldnt believe it.
