The Roots' Album Set For June 22nd (and album cover)

Postby MikeNUFC » May 16th, '10, 19:34

Can't wait for this, although I'm pretty sure it'll get pushed back, due to Recovery. Haven't heard much talk about it but definetley one of my most anticapted albums of the year.

Download Things Fall Apart and Do You Want More?!!!??!. Two brilliant albums. Whether they'll be to your taste I dunno, but I love them.

Cheers for this, I forgot the Roots where dropping this year, pleasent surprise :y:
Black Thought is probably the most prolific emcee ever, I always forget about him though :confusion:

Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus

Same, BT or The Roots dont put themselves out enough, that's the problem. Like, hardly anyone ever mentions Black Thought in their top 10's or anything but he's so consistent. Wish he's drop some solo stuff as well.

Thanks KB.

That song is too "old school" for me, but I'll give them a chance.

Thats true, they do drop under the radar even though they always put out good music.

On BT, that guy is honestly an amazing emcee, its hard to say whether he was better in the 90's or 2000's because he's always remained consistent.

I think he was releasing a solo album a good few years back but it got shelved

No probs, they do have that "old school" sound so if isn't your style you might not get into them, I think you'd like their albums "Things Fall Apart" & "Game Theory", they sound less old school

The album cover is nothing too great to be honest but who the hell cares anyway, it's all about the music. The Roots are fucking great and I'm sure they won't disappoint.

There was a couple of times when he was supposed to release solo projects, but they always got shelved.
