How do you know he wasn't making new music with Em? Producers like Khalil are making new beats all the time but it's not like he can suddenly say to himself, "OK today I am going to make the best beat ever because I'm working with Eminem!" and go ahead and actually make the best beat ever. Also beats can take hours and hours and hours to complete, and he probably only had limited time with Em so he gave him the best ones he had.

yeah and actually, he probably didn't even know Eminem was going to listen to his beats... he probably has a manager who submits beats to various people/labels, and Eminem heard it and decided to use it. Eminem could have changed it if he had wanted to tho... For example the We Made You beat, I think they bought it from some random producer, and they changed it quite a lot.. But I guess for the Not Afraid beat, they thought it had a "radio" sound so they decided to keep it like that... It's pretty much speculations tho

producers send beat CD's to many artists...the same beats
whoever pays for them, they get exclusive rights to those beats
you guys are just used to Dr. Dre producing for Eminem and having exclusive beats just for Eminem and no one else at his side

Ok, to people acting like beatmaker connaisseurs, I know all about beat cd and all. Actually I make beats my self.

And quite frankly, If I would have the opportunity to send him beats, I wouldn't go back to old beats UNLESS I tried to make new beats and they weren't up to par.

Also, it just takes off all the magic. When Jay-z worked with Dr. Dre for Kingdome come, the beats Dre made were specifically for Jay-z. So that's my point, it's always more special when the beats are tailor fitted for the artist. The minute I heard NOt Afraid I thought it sound like a maino song, and call it coincidence or wtv it was an old unused maino song.
