Either way, I don't care if people sell out as long as they are dropping nice verses. Em has always been the type to rap about fictional stories, etc. anyway, so I don't think it would have as much of an effect on him as say.. Idk someone who claims to be some gangbanger with teardrops who suddenly decides to drop terrible rock albums that simply aren't 'him' just for the money.. coughcough

I don't know about you but I want the Em that spit the verse on Realest ni99as song.

Uhm, how exactly can the highest selling artist of the last 10 years sell out? His name alone sells records.

No.

Quite clearly you have no idea what the term 'selling out' even means. Many people misconceive its meaning as 'getting bigger', 'working with more famous names'. Getting more famous does not mean you're selling out / have sold out and working with bigger names doesn't mean that either.

He's not working with those people for the sake of it. There's reasoning behind it.

Selling out means compromising your artistic principles for monetary gain. When money becomes the driving force in your art, you've sold out. Now QUITE CLEARLY that is NOT and never has been the case with Eminem. Fact he turned down a $15m movie with 50 Cent. Get real man.

When he's saying things like "fuck the Earth, he's got the urge to pull his dick from the dirt and fuck the whole Universe" and "Come any closer and I'll bite off your head!" he is by no means selling out. He's the OPPOSITE of artistic compromise. He's a lyrical rebel, always has been and always will be. 50 Cent is a sell out. Eminem is a true artist.

HAH, :y:

Was waiting for someone to bring it up...Someone probs did, I just missed it, lol.

But I do personally feel he sold out, badly, but not quite in the way you said. Hopefully this album will prove me wrong? Selling out on singles isn't so bad, for me...But selling out on an album altogether is bullshit.

Count on EminemBase pretty much cover everything. There isn't much else to add.

I would say, however, that the closest he came to selling out (for me) was when he was making songs like Smack That, Shake That, and Touchdown. Mainly due to the fact that these songs had nothing to offer outside of the mindless dribble (imo) over a bangin' beat with a big name feature.

Everything as of late seems to offer something more--almost in spite of the big name features. So, No, I don't think he's selling out at all.

Francesco10 wrote:I think 'Smack that' made Akon a superstar out of just a great hook man at the time, and 'Shake that' was a fantastic collabo which hit the West coast like El Ninho and ironically EM was nominated for both songs in the same category. 'Shake that' was the ballance out single to 'When I'm gone' too. Never saw those like sell outs. 'Touchdown' was one 1 of 3 EM collabos T.I. picked for his album and I don't see it as sell out either even though people here say it's really really bad record in general.

Right.

But what I'm saying is this: what do these songs offer? Personal thoughts? No. Lyrical dexterity? No. Uniqueness in any significant way? No, not in my opinion.

They seemed to exist solely for the beats that were backing the vocals.

That's just me, though.

He dissed Wayne in the new single, so obviously he wasn't working with him because he thought he was good.

WOW first of all shut your mouth he didn't diss lil wayne so stop running around spreading rumors because you're too illiterate to interpret the lyrics correctly.
read about that here: http://forum.trshady.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=88043

And as far as the whole selling out thing.. You people disgust me really... This shouldn't even be a fuckin topic of discussion. What the fuck does it matter who he has on the chorus? You guys make it sound like hes having full feature verses from rihana and pink. like wtf? Isn't it OBVIOUS that these features will be chorus only???? rihana has a fuckin sexy voice id love to hear her on a chorus with eminem... Pink is raw and sexy at the same time so yea id love to hear her on the chorus too.

And as far as lil wayne goes? yea he'll probably have a verse... big deal.. one verse.. out of 16 songs... and maybe it'll be good? lil wayne spits fire on occasion just not recently. Maybe wayne will go drought 3 style and we'll have a classic song

Eminem sold out.

FACE IT. End of story.

Now, this doesn't mean that he can't or isn't putting out good music necessarily. BUT, what it does mean is that now he's just another swagger rapper on a hundred trillion. In 99-03 he did his own thing and didn't give a fuck. That was the real Eminem. That's what made him so unique and awesome. Now he's just dick-riding everybody in sight, and doing most likely gay club tracks with Rihanna and Pink? Fuck that bullshit.
