Something being pointless means it serves no purpose. The very fact we're even debating it shows that it serves at least that purpose. So it can't be pointless.

Me saying it's shit / not worth posting isn't the same thing. Those are matters of quality and time consumption. I could call a certain TV programme shit and not worth making. That doesn't mean it's pointless if its goal is to entertain as it has a point and a purpose.
