ST. LOUIS(UPI) -- A Missouri woman who pleaded guilty to three counts of mailing a threatening communication admitted to mailing animal parts to a romantic rival.

St. Louis prosecutors said Jessica Bradshaw, 39, of Lincoln County, sent threatening notes and animal parts including a cow's tongue and the head of an opossum to a woman involved in a relationship with a Trenton, Ill., woman Bradshaw had developed feelings for, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday.

Bradshaw could face up to 16 months in prison for the felony counts, but defense attorney Yi Sun said Bradshaw will request a lighter sentence because of "diminished mental capacity" when she committed the crimes.

A psychiatric evaluation carried out earlier this year determined Bradshaw's feelings for the woman "took on an intensity that overwhelmed her rational thought."
