The Fifth Amendment of the United States Consitution states that Double Jeapordy is strictly forbidded..what is double jeapordy....it's the act of putting a person through a second trial for an offense for which he or she has already been prosecuted or convicted. So like let's say that I killed and tortured little girls..(I'm just using an example)..and I was put on trial...and the evidence was ifficent enough to find me guilty and they let me go....and as soon as I walk out of the court room I shout..."I'M GUILTY"....I could never be tried or held accountable for those crimes ever again...how fucked up is that..give me your opinions on this...I would like to see how you guys feel about this...

i guess that law was made to prevent people from having to go through a series of court cases, otherwise i don't see the point with it - i still think it's a stupid law, it should be possible to retry someone if new and convincing evidence emerges such as dna etc. Where's the justice for the victims if a guy is guilty but gets off on a technicality and can never be retried.

How is it a better way to condemn criminals??? If they are tried by a jury...found innocent because evidence wasn't sufficient..and then 20 years later..they walk into the police station and openly admit to the crime...they can't be charged...so how is that condemning criminals??? I'm confused.... :confusion:
