During this period, Forlán became known for removing his shirt and baring his torso in celebration of his goals. The first such example of this resulted in quite an amusing incident: Forlán whipped his shirt off in excitement after scoring an 85th minute winner against Southampton in November 2002 but struggled to get it back on in time for the re-start of play, resulting in the spectacle of Forlán briefly running around the Old Trafford pitch bare-chested, with his shirt still in his hand, then recovering the ball for his team. The referee soon stopped play and ordered Forlán off the pitch to get dressed.

Unbelievable!!! Spain fucking did it! Spain won the World Cup for the first time!!!!!! It's just so amazing honestly, everything was going crazy here. I knew it, I knew they were going to do it. They just couldn't go into penalties, damn I love Iniesta. The Dutch played very but very fucking dirty, thank god they didn't win, they were really getting on my nerves. Wasn't the best of finals but who honestly gives a shit because Spain still won it! They tried and tried just like the Dutch did too but it was ours in the end. WOW. To all the haters, keep hating! lol
