Bizarre Loses 30 Pounds On Celebrity Fit Club T.V. Show

Postby DarkMan » Feb 26th, '06, 09:41

D12 rapper's stint on reality weight-loss TV show makes him serious about his diet and exercise.

D 12's shower-cap sporting heavyweight MC Bizarre is looking a little less rotund these days; he shed roughly 30 pounds off his 321-pound frame by participating on the third edition of VH1's weight-loss reality series "Celebrity Fit Club."

Even he was surprised by his weight drop, which he's managed to keep off since the show's three-month shoot wrapped in December.

"My goal was 2 pounds, so I did 100 percent better than I was supposed to do," says Bizarre (real name Rufus Johnson), who actually exceeded his goal by a whopping 1,500 percent.

With "Celebrity Fit Club" now behind him -- the season finale airs at 9 p.m. Sunday -- Bizarre, on the phone in Los Angeles, says he is definitely feeling the difference in his body.

The best part about the weight loss, he says, is snoring less while traveling on airplanes. "Usually, when I'd go to sleep when I was bigger, I'd wake up and the person next to me would be gone," says Biz, 29. "I've had guys sitting next to me cancel their flights because of my snoring."

At D12's first performance since "Fit Club," at the Shady Bowl Super Party at Detroit's State Theatre on Super Bowl weekend, he said he "felt a little better, moved a little faster." Backstage, he says, he snacked on veggies, avoiding the temptation to munch on junk food.

Prior to "Fit Club," Bizarre -- a self-described "country boy from Detroit" who now lives in Atlanta -- says he never had much time for exercise or healthy eating practices.

"I never took it serious, man," he says. "We'd go on tour and I'd see Marshall, Obie Trice and everybody with personal trainers and stuff, and I just used to laugh. I thought it was a joke, man."

It's not a joke anymore, however; Bizarre says he now boxes three times a week and works out with a personal trainer, and says his ultimate goal is to drop down to 220 pounds.

Bizzy says he was reluctant to do "Celebrity Fit Club" at first. "I was in denial. I didn't think I needed it, and I just didn't want to be on a TV show and have everybody know my weight and my personal business."

He came around, however, when he saw how serious everybody was taking it, and the potential in it to better himself.Even though the show is finished, Bizarre has a permanent reminder of his time spent with the likes of Bruce Vilanch, Chastity Bono, Tempestt Bledsoe and Young MC on his right forearm in the form of a "Kelly's Bellies" tattoo, the name of his Kelly LeBrock-coached "Fit Club" team.

"Me and my team, we kind of bonded, we became personal friends," says Bizarre, adding during the show's taping he looked up to "Weird Science" babe LeBrock "like a mother." As for the show's resident nutbar Jeff Conaway ("Taxi"), Biz says he'd be open to dueting with him on a rap track, which he suggests should be called "Pill Poppers."

Going forward, Bizarre says he's now working on a few acting roles (he had a bit part in last year's "The Longest Yard" remake, and an upcoming Rob Schneider movie) and doing the label-head thing with his own Red Head Records.

He hopes to start work on a third D12 album later this year for a possible 2007 release.

Will Eminem be a part of the D12 record? "Definitely," Biz says. "You know he can't keep himself away."

So even if his stomach starts to disappear, Bizarre plans on sticking around for awhile.

"I was afraid at first, but (since the weight loss) I've been getting nothing but positive feedback," says Bizarre, about slimming down his trademark oversized tummy. "So I think the fans will be there with me big or small. As long as I keep the shower cap on, I'll be good."

i really hope bizzy does well to drop down to 220 pounds, or even more, and not be known as "the fat one from d12"

way to go bizzy!!
