Why doesn't Marshall like the fame/attention?

If I were that famous I would love soaking up everyone's love, and seeing how happy I make everyone.

Of course I can understand fearing for your safety, especially in the more gangster parts of town, and of course people hanging outside your door would get kind of freaky.

But I wonder if he ever gets any enjoyment from soaking in all the fan attention. You know, just walking through a record store and chatting with fans and stuff.

Of course I can't possibly begin to understand what it's like, but I do know that there are quite a few celebs who are out there on the streets by themselves and hang with the fans from time to time.

Not that I'm asking him to do that....it's just that I would just be ecstatic if I was worshipped as much as someone like Em. And I'm sure he's had some fun with the groupies, especially back when he was blowing up.

I wonder if it's a personality thing...he takes the attention as some kind of insult or attack?

There are people who can deal with fame and some that can't. Eminem doesn't handle it well.

I think if I were famous I'd handle it well because my goal in life is to become famous but you truly don't know until you're in that position.

Em can't go outside and eat a pizza or ice cream he can't go to the gas station or in the cinema just like we all we can do what we want and nobody will be interestet in it I can drunk run around my whole city and sreame ''Catch me if you can HAHA'' thats why he don't like it ... yeah maybe in the begining it's all fun it's feels good to be a special one and so many people show you love. When you would see eminem or I would see eminem we would run to him and talk to him... Yeah I've heard every one of his songs, freestyles, guest verses etc...I just think it's an interesting relationship he has with fame. Kind of love hate, as he was jealous of the attention Wayne and Kanye were getting, yet in My Darling he says he doesn't want his career back, and the verse you posted he complains about alienation, says success "sucks" in I'm Back, etc.. And now of course he does want it back and seems really psyched and happy (from what others have said) that Recovery is doing so well.

I'm wondering whether he really has to live a life of alienation, or whether it's just something to do with his particular personality. I've seen extremely famous people on the streets with groups of fans chatting, signing stuff, etc, and they were smiling, taking pictures, etc. Maybe the people hanging out in front of Em's house back after SSLP came out, and other bad experiences, freaked him out too much and now he's scared of going out in public at all.

Or maybe he is getting out more now that he's clean and happier. I wonder whether now he goes out to regular places without heavy disguises.

Thats the diffence though, alot of people are famous, and carry on a normalish life.

Em has people camping outside his house, he gets mobbed wherever he goes.
