The first time I heard it, my mind was blown at the perfectness and sheer epicness of it.

It was just so damn cool, and got me so pumped. The last verse in particular gave me chills.

Everyone in the world was bumping that song, and tons of people still do. And it was at the height of Em's popularity, when he was bigger than the Beatles and Elvis, so hearing it got me and so many other people so psyched to go see 8 Mile. People were literally rioting in front of an over-capacity free sneak preview of 8 Mile on my college campus.

Best Em song for sure.

One of the best songs ever IMO. The lyrics are absolutely breathtaking. The music suits it perfectly. That third verse kills all. I remember thinking at the time that this is how people must have felt like when the Beatles were putting out their best work. And it actually serves the movie as a "title song" and isn't just some random thing tacked on to get a hit. One of the times when the Academy got it right.
