Slight Verbal Slip in "Mosh"...

Postby EminemBase » Aug 23rd, '10, 21:18

Personally I love the song, people always go on about his political knowledge and he sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about in this as a reason for disliking it.

To me, that's irrelevant, whether I agree with the message / whether the artist is full of shit or clueless - What's more important to me is the passion and execution. Like I think Mos Def is a deluded racist but his execution of his bigotry is so brilliant I love and listen regardless.

I think the thudding nature of this is fantastic and atmospheric.

MOSH VIDEO

But that aside, I know Em is a perfectionist and he tries to pronounce every sylablle to perfection. I remember him saying if he would say the word "the" wrong before, he would change it. This slight blunder had always bugged me lmao... If you go to 3.40 ish.

When he says "let him impress daddy that way". Sounds slightly gargled on the 'that / way', it's kinda like "let him impress daddy thaggway". That's always bugged the shit out of me lmao. I know he was starting to get seriously addicted and probably more lazy at the time. Still though, if I was him that would drive me nuts, as it's there for ever. Every time I hear the song it's there, like a bad smell.

Great song aside from that.

Perhaps it got distorted during the mixing process. He might have only listened to the vocals after recording where it sounded how it should have sounded... And just didn't pay attention to it when listening to the finished product, I guess. Don't know, just a wild guess.

^ Why would a mis-said word / burbled sentence show his anger lmao.

I doubt he purposely said "thaggg-way" to show he was angry.

Idk why he says it like that, but I think it sounds cool, goes with the flow.
