Encore > Recovery

Postby Dreminem » Sep 5th, '10, 06:49

Ok hear me out on this one, but being a long time Eminem fan I really dont think Recovery is anything close to his old music. But would anyone agree that Encore is a better album the Recovery? Encore was the last Eminem album that was fun to listen to. Recovery just sounds too mainstream for me and it seems like hes always yelling or angry about something, there are a few good tracks but for me I cant listen to the whole album because he gives the same tone in every song. I miss the different voices, the accents, and how unique every song was.

Now obviously nothing will ever beat SS/MM LP + TES, but im just saying in the 2nd tier of Eminem albums Encore is definitely better then Recovery IMO. :tounge2:

hell no every track on recovery is good not great like on say MMLP and TES. Encore had like a lot of horrifically shit tracks.

The worst track on Recovery would be a good track on Encore in my eyes.

And Encore is?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!

Never said it was, but its a lot closer to it then Recovery. After all, it was released just 2 years after the Eminem show.

But in terms of quality music, Recovery shits on Encore

There is nothing classic about Encore.

It makes me me laugh when people say Em's too aggressive on this album, Em's been shout rapping since 2000. (he just switches it up so he doesn't sound the same as his last records)

Plus, his voice hasn't changed that much & he somehow managed to get the same cadences/tone from his mmlp days back. It's like the Em show was never made.

The new eminem is good and all

Exactly, that album is so awful it killed off Em's near perfect career/era & catalogue of work.

It's a good thing he brought out Recovery to balance it.

C'mon guys, i know it's cool to rag on Encore these days but give it credit, the album concept was great and most of the songs really were not that bad.

Although i agree that i prefer Recovery slightly, still.

lol fascinating read

hell even Relapse is better than Encore, even though I like Encore better but half of Encore is just unlistenable. Other than some gems like his Spend Some Time verse, Mockingbird & LTS (this is a stretch, just maybe) you could EASILY delete Encore off his discography and it would only make things better.

btw, I don't even know why I'm putting an argument seeing a few posts of OP in this thread clearly shows he's one of those people that can't let go of the "nostalgia" feeling when listening to Eminem's music aka "an Eminem's song is only good when it reminds me of his old songs" (lol)

The only annoying thing about the critisicm of Encore is that people tend to forget that it still had some good songs (at least I think they were hehe).

Mockingbird and Like Toy Soldiers are "best of"-material if you ask me while Mosh and Yellow brick road are pretty good too. Crazy in love, Encore and Spend some time are bearable.
