Great Couple Of Lines In 'Hello'

Postby MikeNUFC » Sep 5th, '10, 14:00

Man I should check to see if my mom left any out
Nope, guess I'll re-route
Maybe somewhere in the depths of your couch
Oh! Jackpot! Yea, 'Open Sesame' mouth

I love the way he makes swallowing of pills sound like something so ordinary - like he found some sweets or something. It's just brilliant the way he delivers it.

'Hello' has to be his most underrated song since his comeback. It's so fucking good, but I see a lot of dislike for it.

The way he plays around with words and the English lanaguage is class - something Em hasn't done a lot.. The rhyming is pretty good as well, esecially in the second and third verse - some nice multies in there.

I Love Hello. The thumping base line in the back is mesmerizing. And i love the way he chilly just flows over the beat, great story-telling.

Pretty much this tbh, the only track i've listened to a decent amount of times since the first month it was out is Deja Vu (and Elevator if you count Refill)

Well, maybe listening to it a decent amount of time may actaully make the tracks better?

I didn't like the album at first, but rather than just dismiss it and not give it a chance, I kept with it and now I still regularly listen to it. Some albums take a while to get used to.

Lol it's not about listening until you like it. It's about giving it a reasonable chance.

Kez said he hasnt listened to any of the tracks a decent amount of times - surely you have to at leats listen a decent amount of times before you get a full feeling or opinion on the album.

Yeah, I don't like it either. It's like "listen to Soulja Boy a lot to appreciate it more."

Sorry, can't do it.

And I've always hated Hello... Still do.

Okay clearly i phrased that wrong lol. When i say "listened to a decent number of times" i mean like, the amount of times i've listened to all his other stuff (i.e. fucking loads). I spent a good month at least listening to the album all the time, so i've listened to it plenty of times to know what i like and don't like. Don't get me wrong, (most of) the tracks aren't terrible, just not my thing and they got boring quick.

I listened to Relapse for at least a month straight when it came out (not because of being a Stan of course just for the excitement that he was finally back); i think i have a pretty well-informed opinion on the album. It's not like i would say this if i had just listened to it once and then left it. :coffee: I aint that stupid.

Why do you think i haven't made my review of Recovery in Shady Reviews yet? I still don't think i've listened enough to fully get the entire album (although i'm getting there)

That's fair enough.

It was just saying "I haven't listend to most of the album a decent number of times" that threw me off. I see what you mean, now.

Still Relapse is quality.

I like Hello, I think it's catchy, the only thing I don't like about it is his voice

some songs I still like from Relapse:
my mom
hello
same song & dance
deja vu

If you have liked a bunch of his previous albums it is.

It has nothing to do with forcing yourself to like something; it's well known that you sometimes discover a lot of new things when you give stuff a second chance.

Also, there's a difference between something that is shit and something you don't like (not necesarrily aimed at you, just people in general) - even though it's not your cup of tea you should still be able to appreciate the work and talent behind it.

Some of my current faves took me a while to get really into.

Exactly, when I first heard Big L & Lupe fiasco I didn't appreciate/enjoy their style of rap.

Oh boy tho, after few re-runs of listening to their albums, I realized that the praise they receive from the masses is well deserved.

My two fav rappers now. (along with Em)

My Mom and Must Be The Ganja are his worst tracks imo.
