You need bad albums like Encore to see how great his other albums are. And, sometimes I like to listen to Rain Man and Puke just for the laugh. Those kind of songs are silly, but funny. Recovery is much, much better than Encore, but sometimes stupid side of Eminem is great. I can`t say that i Wish he never made Encore.

Without question. It's beyond me if nobody told him it was crap, I guess some people around him were just sucking up while others smelled money.

I like a few of the songs but 'a few' doesn't make a whole album. I find it so annoying that future listeners are going to pick this album up when his other releases are lightyears ahead.

Well actually that's interesting because...

Well, the perception of a fan who followed him from SSLP-Encore, hearing Encore after hearing SSLP, MMLP and TES I think would be a lot worse than somebody starting on Encore.

Because my dad's friend who is like... I dunno, in his 50's, well - He's a very big MUSIC fan like full-stop like obviously at that age, he's been through a few golden eras in his lifetime. And he doesn't particularly like rap but when he heard "Lose Yourself" in 2002 he said he was blown away.

So he went and bought Encore in 2004. And I've spoken to him about it and he thinks Eminem is a genius even from hearing Encore. Now he literally hadn't heard any of the previous three. And he has a very harsh taste like he's not easily pleased.

SO I guess to somebody un-introduced to Eminem, even Encore (as bad as it is in comparison to the others) would somewhat blow them away. Because it's still packed with a range of emotions and creative ideas that you wouldn't hear 1% of on a regular artist's CD.

Because part of it is also... To a fan, it's his 4th album. So it's a constant struggle for him to surprise you now. You know what to expect. But if you have no idea what to expect, and have never heard Eminem talk about his mother before I guess "Evil Deeds" would sound even more striking than it does to someone who's sick and tired of hearing about her.

But this is what I was trying to say before to somebody on here who totally missed the point. On some old debate about Encore I said I could argue for or see Em's genius even if I heard "Big Weenie" and nothing else. And he mistook that for me implying "Big Weenie" is a genius song. I don't mean that at all. but what I mean is it's HOW he goes about things. And even Eminem at his worst, or any considered genius at their worst, I think you can still depict their golden element in almost any work from them.

So I'm not saying Encore is a brilliant album, just interesting to compare the perceptions based on when you would be introduced to it. And it annoys me a little thinking about it, so I'll stop now.

i think it's weird. if you go on youtube and search up one of his shitty encore songs, most of the comments (from casual listeners i'm assuming) say it's great and hilarious. you ask pretty much any hardcore fan and they fucking those songs, like big weenie and ass like that. kinda what he said ^

I happen to like Rain man, Evil deeds, never enough, encore, mockingbird, like toy soldiers, mosh, all those songs are quality songs in my opinion. Recovery has some decent songs to me but all of them just sound too angry for no purpose.

Encore is obviously Eminem's weakest album. It showed him aging and particulary showed a lack of inspiration, also any emotion. No matter how bad it was, its still hard to deny that he still possesses a great mic technique, it also showed he still can write a strong song (still not good enough). While the good and bad songs are present in almost equal qualities, I feel the good outweighs the bad, and have to say that its a good album, if extremely disappointing album, by Eminem.

But Recovery shows character, great lyricism and strong emotion. There are very few weak songs on recovery but yet still better than most on encore.
Therefore ; Recovery > Encoree !
