I'm not too great with the timeline of his career considering I've only been a huge Em fan since summer of '09 but I'm thinking "Patiently Waiting". His verse is so sick but it seems like after that he fell of dramatically.

Well, before "the dark period" he did his best albums, not sure what do you mean. If you mean right before the hiatus, well, 8 Mile OST, pick your verse/song. And Encore wasn`t all that bad.
