If he went for "controversial", couldn't he at least have chosen something less random? You know, "ugly with a purpose"?

I have nothing against him, I really like some of his work as a producer. But he does have this tendency to go overboard and try to advertise in big bold letters how OMG! super special artistic he is. IMO it's still not quite Lady Gaga level, because that woman makes generic dance songs. There's no there there in terms of originality. I think Kanye has interesting ideas. He just seems to have this compulsion to turn everything into an overblown spectacle.
