I don't think he has ever hated pop stars. At least not as much as he said he did. It was just a mixture of them being an easy target for his sense of humour and him trying to get his name out back in the days.

Prior to Recovery he said, he listened to Paper Trail and Blueprint 3 so I reckon he was inspired by their way of becoming successful.

It is quite funny how much the pop stars on Recovery get criticised. I wouldn't be surprised if people actually criticise them for WHO they are rather than for WHAT they bring to the album. Had they been no names not many would be so full of hate.

Nas is aiming for the mainstream with his next album so if it is ever going to happen, it is now. He is also working with Alex da kid so I guess there's a chance he is still keeping an eye on Eminem since Alex doesn't really have that many beats out.

Even if Nas goes mainstream it will still be amazing music just because it's Nas so I don't have a problem.

Also people whining because he's collabing with "pop-stars", get over it. He's almost 40 he can pretty much do what he wants at this point. He's proven enough on his first 3 albums alone. Plus if he signs Slaughterhouse he'll have some competition. You act like he's collabing with Britney Spears or some shit. And why is it only with Em that people hate him collabing with weak artists, Kanye's done it, Jay's done it for years, Talib Kweli did a song with Gucci Mane and I don't see everyone calling them sellouts. Not saying I like some of the artists Em is collabing with but as long as his verse is dope that's all I care about.

This is such a good point.

Big Boi had Gucci on his solo album and no-one said anything.Em has always had to work twice as hard to get credibility.

I dont really enjoy Eminem working with such acts, in the same way I dont wanna see Big Boi working with Gucci but I wont call the said artist a "sell-out" because of it.

@Sox's point - that's all very well but Em could easily do a song with Tech N9ne that doesnt feature on an album. He did a song with fucking Thirsten Howell back in the day, why not more underground acts now?

I'm still praying on that Raekwon collab.

He made 'I Can' in 2002, 'Hero' in 2007. All pretty mainstream tracks. He's hardly underground, is he. I know people who hate hip-hop who know Nas.

I dont really care if a song blows up, as long as the artists stick to themselves. I guess thats why I hate Not Afraid. Not Afraid is more selling out than say, working with Rihanna on LTYWL.

^ well of course Nas is not underground, he's a veteran with big influence on the culture. Guess I just thought this has something to do with his label, a full mainstream album is different from a mainstream single.

Yeah, well it'll be interesting to see what Nas does with it. After how good he was on Distant Relatives, I'm expecting A LOT. Lets hope we dont have Gods Song ---> Streets Disciple type thing.

Got Lost Tapes Vol. 2 to look forward to as well.
