Eminem's Ten Greatest Features

http://www.thesource.com/articles/32162/?utm_source=TheSource.com&utm_medium=twitter

Following his disappointing 2004 album, Encore, Eminem fell on hard times. Not only was he dealing with a now well-publicized drug addiction, he was also coping with the loss of his best friend, Proof. Em waited five years before making another solo album. During that period he rarely made guest appearances, and when he popped up it was evident wasn't himself. He sounded like he was on cruise control, especially on T.I.'s "Touchdown" and Akon's "Smack That".

2010, however, has been quite the resurgence Eminem. Not only did he drop the triple-platinum Recovery, his feature game has been on point as ever. In the past month alone he has popped up on tracks with Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, T.I. and Lloyd Banks, taking them over almost every time.

With his recent string of great features, The Source thought it would be a good time to look back at the ten best of his career.

10. Missy Elliott - Busa Rhyme (1999)

"The underground just spun around and did 360 / Now these kids diss me and act like some big sissies / 'Oh he just did some s*** with Missy / So now he thinks he's too big to do some s*** with MC Get Bizzy.'" When he rapped that on "Marshall Mathers", this was the track he was talking about.

It seems only fitting to kick off this list with one of the first collaborations he ever did with a major artist. As you can tell from the response to it, it was a huge turning point in Em's career.

9. T.I. - That's All She Wrote (2010)

Since I was talking how badly he's been killing features lately, it would be kind of hard to leave every single one of them off. "That's All She Wrote" ekes out "Roman's Revenge" for that spot. It's hard to overstate just how impressive Eminem is here. There are very few rappers who possess the ability to spit in double time the way he does. This adequately makes up for "Touchdown".

8. The Madd Rapper - Stir Crazy (2000)

This is Slim Shady at his finest… and most insane. He pairs up with The Madd Rapper over a beat from then-unknown Kanye West. Em and The Madd Rapper spend the song trading verses, each crazier than the last.

7. Drake - Forever (2009)

"We can make them look like bozos / He's wondering if he should spit this slow… f*** no." And with that he was back. "Forever" was effectively Eminem's coming out party. After his disappointing 2009 comeback album, Relapse, Em set out to prove to everyone that he still had it. He did just that, outshining Drake, Kanye West and Lil Wayne.

"The passion and the flame is ignited / You can't put it out once we light it." He wasn't kidding.

6. Lil Wayne - Drop the World (2009)

He continued his comeback joining up again with Lil Wayne just a few months later. Eminem helped make this one of the few tolerable tracks from Weezy's rock album, Rebirth.

5. Dr. Dre - Forgot About Dre (1999)

If the hook was his only contribution to the song, this still would have made the list. Like "Stir Crazy", this featured Slim Shady at the height of his insanity. In his lone verse he talked about burning houses down and killing dogs while making everyone look at Charleston Chews and Karl Kanis differently.

4. The Notorious B.I.G. - Dead Wrong (1999)

It's a little depressing to think about all the rappers today who will never get a chance to spit alongside Biggie Smalls. The possibilities are endless. On Biggie's 1999 posthumous album, Born Again, we got a glimpse into those possibilities. "Dead Wrong" showed rap fans the music these two incredibly skilled MCs, with incredibly twisted minds, would have been capable of making together.

3. 50 Cent - Patiently Waiting (2003)

The chemistry these two shared was undeniable. Encore as a whole was disappointing, but some of the best tracks from that album featured him and 50 together. They played off each other as well as Drake and Lil Wayne do today. "Patiently Waiting" was the pinnacle of that chemistry. Unfortunately their collaborations since then have been less than stellar.

2. D12 - Fight Music (2001)

OK, I'm cheating a little, whatever. While not exactly a "feature," I'm still counting it since it's not really an Eminem song either. When it came to D12, Eminem mostly liked to let the other group members shine. On "Fight Music" though, Eminem took over. Along with the outstanding hook, Em also delivered one of his most passionate verses to date. Admittedly it's hard to not skip past the first three minutes leading up to it

1. Jay-Z - Renegade (2001)

How could this be anything but number one? Eminem's performance on this became so legendary that it turned "renegade" into a verb. To "renegade" somebody is to murder them on their own track, which is exactly what Eminem did. It's a bit unfortunate for Jay-Z since his verses were far from terrible. However, that didn't make it any less true when NaS said "Eminem murdered you own your own s***."

Okay, well, I didn't actually read what was there, I skimmed it to be honest, and just saw the Forever, DTW, and All She Wrote, so I guess it's just been updated. My bad

I also saw the Missy Elliot collaboration, and that's what made me think that this was the same, so I didn't really read the rest

Dude, if you would have read my other post, I said that I didn't know this was a different list. That list was MTV, and looked pretty much the same, and I didn't realize it. Excuse me
