Just because someone produces a track or the majority of an album, doesnt mean they were the only person involved.

Nobody's saying the producer is the only person involved. But they're the driving force for shaping the sound. And when that's what he's renowned for it's pretty shitty to call it your solo effort and have a boat load of other people do a large amount of the work too.

All he has to do is make the music. He doesn't write lyrics, he's not exactly overly artistic or aesthetic-heavy, so if that's all he has to do - at least do all of it.

Very true, also making a beat isn't the same as producing a track. The producer should put the whole song together, not just supply the beat. The producer is SUPPOSED to be kind of like a composer.

They also should compose the vocals (NOT write them), they are often the driving force behind how the whole song is built up, such as adding different vocals in the hook (as in the hook on Kush).

There is a great interview about this from Snoop on youtube somewhere, talking about all the hate Dre gets because he sometimes is credited as producer/co producer on a track where the beat was for the most part made by someone else. He said basically that someone may supply a beat, but Dre is the one that makes it into a song.

In fact I have The Chronic, Chronic 2001, Straight Outta Compton, The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP so I am well aware how brilliant Dre's mixes are. But Khalil's beats are also mixed almost to perfection. He is right up there with Dre in terms of mixing. His mixes are crisp and clear and EQ'd beautifully. His drums sound fantastic and his mids and highs are the best sounding I've ever heard. So why is it a stupid opinion? Go on, I'm dying to hear your reply to this, you are obviously an expert when it comes to mixing.
