Hard to say since Em was so drugged up at the time and depressed since Proof had just died but if Em put his mind to it, he could have won.

Eminem at his worst is still infinitely better than Wayne at his best.

"be good or be good at it"

He's such... I mean, it's basically this...
read a book or read about a book
think twice or give it a second thought
be the best or be better

It's just fucking... ridiculous, pretentious babble.

Wayne is really bad. The best complement I'll give him is that he isn't ALWAYS awful, he'll occasionally have an OK or even good line. But anybody can come up with occasional okay or good lines, you need more than that to call yourself a lyricist.

Eminem has more personality, wit, innovation and originality on fucking "Big Weenie" than Wayne does for an album.

Eminem would probably win, just because of his battling background. Even in his slump, he usually had some clever shit to say, but really how would he attack Wayne? What's there to say without sounding like hater?

Wayne on the other hand can't battle for shit. I remember him dissing 50 Cent saying "Ill pour syrup in that vitamin water". He would've lost just because he doesn't have battle skills. But he was putting out better music at the time. I remember in high school finding all the new music of Lil Wayne, bumping the shit out of his tracks. Shiiiiiiiiit I'm about to play One Night Only right now :)

I'd say Em just because while he was a shadow of himself at the time, he would probably still be able to write a tolerable diss track...and Wayne as far as I know, doesn't really do battle or diss tracks and probably would thought Em would destroy him and wouldn't respond (like he did with 50); heck, if he did respond, it'd probably be shitter than anything Em would have made.

Wayne was putting out classic mixtapes like Dedication 2 and Drought 3 while Em was dropping very little music at all at the time Syllables was made (2007)...so i gotta go with Wayne

btw, Lollipop was 2008

LIL Wayne wouldnt even do shit if someone cussed at him
And if LIL WAYNE dissed Em it would be pretty obvious and Lil Waynes career would of ended

That's Rock Bottom
When you want something bad enough to steal
That's Rock Bottom
When you feel you have had it up to here
Cause you mad enough to scream but you sad enough to tear

be good or be good at it is actually pretty good...not where u wanna start if you feel like hating

basically he's saying you got two picck
1) be quite and behave
2) be awesome at what you do and go get whats yours

those two things are exact opposite, but can both work out in life

@Amadeo, Lollipop was recorded in February 2008 if i remember correctly from a couple interviews

Nah it's just lazy, vague writing. It's either that or literally translating shit. When i heard him say "Put the dick in they mouth so i guess it's fuck what they say" on No Love i was like that's it, he's finally stopped even trying. That's the most easy shit, seriously almost anyone could come up with that shit even just if they were making fun of his style.
