What prison sentence would make you flee the country?

A guy in my town got 29 years (heroin) and he's serving it now. Very little chance of getting out early. If I was him, I'd have skipped the country in a heartbeat (IDK if he had the oppurtunity).
I think anything over 5 years would have me leaving. Maybe even fewer. What about you?

Yeah, but if you're 20 and get 30 years, you'll get out when you're 50. Very slim chances of a family/career/good life. I imagine you'd probably get an extra 5 years for running. Isn't a shot at being free from 30 worth the chance of another 5?

Anything over 2 years. Work right next to a Zimbabwean prison.... not pretty at all. But just stay clear of trouble- how hard can it be?

Depends what type of prison. Our prisons in the UK have been compared to holiday camps. Cable TV, PS3's, top notch medical care etc.

Makes you wonder if you'd be better off in prison

If I was going to serve double figures plus years in maximun security full of psycho's on foreign soil though, I'd take my chances and run. I'd grow hair & a beard too haha

33 and 1/2 days in jail was enough for me, even a 6 month prison sentance would make me hide, 6 months is 180 days, thats 180 days of trying not to get butt raped, jumped, shanked, and having to eat dirty ass meals, sleepin on a hard ass bed, fuck that noise

If I was young and was sentenced to a insane amount of time (like I was 25? and given 15 years) I would attempt to hide, jump the border for fucks sake.. It's not worth spending your youth locked up, if you're out at 40 you'd be too old to really do anything - but my question is why would you do something so stupid to earn such a long sentence

Not everything people get a prison sentence for is stupid. It can be accidentaly killing somebody, or being very poor and trying to gain some money in an illegal way to support your family.
