Damn X rapper was dope back in the day

Postby dead prez » Jan 10th, '11, 07:12

Basically name and post rappers who had a lot of skill when they were just starting out or early in their career but fell the fuck off.

Camron in COTC was dope and imo better than Big L in some songs

He rips this song to shreds

Outshines Big L in this song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMpu-AcP ... re=related

Fat Joe is also dope in these songs

Fat Joe's first few albums were underrated as hell..

Cam'ron is still dope, imo, he's a very underrated rhymer

Ras Kass was a beast in the 90's, he fell of pretty hard

Oh, and I can't forget probably the biggest fall from grace in rap music - Ice Cube, probably the best rapper alive at one point, now he can barely make a decent song

''No names should be mentioned but mine, unless you talkin' Big Pun in his prime
Maybe '96 Jay, before Dame was throwin' money around
Or 2pac without Humpty around
Or 50 before Em, Nas talkin' like a gun in his song
Cam'ron during "Children Of The Corn"
Beans before the cops came through and try to grill 'em
I'm talkin '95, Big L before they killed 'em
Em before 8 Mile, Shyne before the deal shit
Canibus, no album out before the L shit
Talkin' bout Kiss, DMX when he was fuckin' wit coke
Or "Cuban Linx," Raekwon and Ghost
I do it all, who blendin' so well in the game
Talkin' Fab, back when he was still spellin' his name MANG
On my Diddy shit, Memphis, Grizzlie shit
Like back in the day when Clue swiped all of Biggie's shit NIGGA
Rappers don't need trouble with I
Unless it's Rass Kass before the D.W.I
Or Talib with Mos, Common before "Be"
If they any less common, don't put 'em before me.''

No but how can you mention Diddy but not one of the most obvious choices of rappers that fell off?

Maybe he doesn't think Prodigy was good when he first started so he couldn't have fallen off.

Lol, I'm not a Prodigy fan, so... But that doesn't mean that dude was bad, nah, he was good for what it is. I like a lot of Mob Deep songs, and he definitely fell off. But that was a Joe Budden verse, and Prodigy and Joey had their little beef, so, hence he aint in the verse..

Oh, don't know about that. Could be true, yeah. Funny how Prodigy ended up being this washed up ol' dude in prison. His letter was funny, too. Dissing Crooked I in some way, if I remember correct.

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake
