Old Time's Sake> INAD as a Detox song

Postby FreeSpeech » Feb 3rd, '11, 04:04

Old Time's Sake is perfect for Detox. It basically discusses Dre's past and says they're doing it one more time, for old time's sake (as Detox is the last Dre album). It's a great Dre banger beat. Hell Breaks Loose would also have been great, Dre completely murders his verses. Best I've heard from him (even if they were sped up for him  ).

Yes, INAD has good content, but it's not the stuff we (or I at least) want from Dre. The beat is subpar for Dre, the lyrics/delivery is forgettable, it's just not a Dre banger. I don't listen to Dre for deep songs. As Steve Berman said, we listen to Dre to hear about big screen TVs, blunts, 40s, and bitches. I love Kush, not because it has a message, but because I can turn up the bass in my car speakers and roll around with my windows down.

TL;DR, but came in this topic to say I instantly agreed with the thread title.

I must say I agree.

Even though INAD is a far better song than Hell breaks loose/Old time's sake.

However, we haven't heard the rest of Detox yet. It could be a real moody emotive album + KUSH! lol

I like the hook and verses but the beat is wack/out of place for a Dre album.

OTS is good but it wouldn't really fit, you have Dre rappin about "blunts, 40s and bitches" if we gonna quote Mr. Berman, and then Em comes in with his serial killer shit.

I see INAD as a glorified intro/skit to Detox. I don't see Dre going that route for that album, so no worries.

I always liked Old Times Sake, good fun smokin track. I don't want the rest of Detox to sound like INAD either, but one or two deep tracks like it is straight. I actually just started really feeling INAD last night(only listened to the leaks once or twice), just needed a Dre beat.

I love "Old Time's Sake" but I think it'd be pretty bizarre on Detox. Considering what everything else probably sounds like. It's a total Relapse song.

Old Time's Sake is alright, but I Need A Doctor NEEDS to open Detox. It makes sense

Yeah Em would have to do it without the accent, but other than that, it's perfect.

I'm Dre from back in the day from,
NWA from black and the gray from,
Choking a bitch to smacking her face from,
Stacking up bodies to, Racking their kegs up.
From racking a bitch to,
Stacking them crates up,
I'm still hungry and I'm back with a tapeworm.
And we're what's happening in rap entertainment, Me and Shady.
Far as competition, faggot there ain't none

^Those Dre lines look like 100% Detox material.

Cause the shit I hear is crazy
But your either getting lazy or you don't believe in you no more
Seems like your own opinions, not one you can form
Cant make a decision you keep questioning yourself
Second guessing and its almost like your begging for my help

He's dropping 4 syllable multis WITHOUT the "from", 5 with it. I don't get how people don't hear these things...
