Compromising your artistic integrity for money while not being true to yourself. A Lipton commercial has nothing to do with Em's music.

Lmao... Man, seriously
I quite like you so am not trying to be a dick but, that line just looks like you're trolling or makes you look very silly, to anyone who truly understands the term selling-out.
Eminem does not = ice tea. But Eminem did now once = ice tea, for a price-tag. Ice tea has nothing to do with Eminem, he's endorsing a product for cash. What do you think selling-out means? The key word there is selling, though... out is just as important.
He SOLD (out) his name / image / likeness and 'artistic baggage' to Lipton Brisk ice tea, for a period of time (30 seconds in ad time) to allow them to use it to leverage their product. Selling-out does not get much clearer than that man. He cheapened his name, selling-out = compromising your image, or integrity FOR money. That's why it's called SELLING-out.
He put a price-tag on his name. He lessened the name Eminem, by associating it with a random product, which he openly endorsed by default, for MONEYYY.
And ps. the "Love the Way You Lie" as selling-out is... I mean you got this shit totally backwards to be fair lmao. It's hilarious to me how you consider... a, realistic, brutal song about domestic violence with Rihanna on the chorus (THINK ABOUT WHY HE USED HER!!) - A very public victim, of domestic violence, one of the most famous in recent times...
It's hilarious to me you consider THAT selling-out and yet consider endorsing ice fucking tea in a commercial as totally fine? You got them totally reversed. He put Rihanna on the chorus to create a paradox man, and the song itself... just because it happened to of been a no.1 - Since when has the easy route to e a hit been realistic, angry rapping about two lovers beating the shit out of each other?
The song is not compromised, in its execution or intent. Where as, Eminem - the rapper, actor, lyricist - randomly giving Lipton Brisk ice tea the power of all of that, for a chunk of change - is a compromise by default. It's whoring his name out, it's whoring out the Eminem brand.
It's like prostitution. Imagine his name as a pussy, what did he do? He leased the pussy for a period of time, for money. Sound familiar? = Selling-out. Does a whore have integrity.
PS. For the record selling-out is NOT confined to art. Paris Hilton is a sell-out, because she compromises her integrity and dignity. Eminem doesn't have to compromise his MUSIC to be a sell-out. Eminem the artist never goes away, was it Eminem the normal guy doing that ad? NO. It was Eminem the superstar public figure... Therefore, he's in 'artist character' and is leasing that for cash, and being Lipton's bitch. Slim Shady sold his cunt to Lipton.
You can be a sell-out as a person, artist and publc-figure. And that's what he became when he did that ad, just because his music is in-tact doesn't justify THAT. Doesn't have to be in his MUSIC. He's a public-figure. Eminem is a brand name in itself.

Albums sales are nothing when you're not the highest selling rapper ever![]()
He's already a millionaire that gets income from his 5 albums every day. He's always performing shows, regardless of touring and his label mails him a check every month. Not to mention royalties whenever someone plays his song anywhere. If he was really in financial trouble, he would have let Glee cover "Lose Yourself" lol.
The majority of income for rappers is from touring and endorsements when they actually do them. That doesn't mean they're going to starve if they don't lol. For whatever reason he did this commercial, it wasn't because he needs money lmfao.
Lesser known mainstream rappers like Andre 3000 aren't touring or taking in endorsement deals. Hell, he hasn't even had an album in 5 years. Do you think he's broke? lol.
Alaine wrote:you do know artists only get 15% album sales loyalty right? so yeah, it's not much money at all. And don't forget he was a heavy drugs addict, divorced 2 times and now raising 3 children, that seriously cost tons of money, in fact, lots of former celebrities got into drugs and became broke because of it.
I'm not saying Eminem doesn't have money now, but he's clearly not a trillionnaire like most people thought he was, he has to do the saving for his retired days and for his kids future, he won't be popular forever, he only got few years in his career left and he wants to make the most of it, it's not that hard to understand.
And you forgot that Eminem has been used to this certain rich lifestyle for 10 years, that's the different between him & less known mainstream rappers, they never experienced this glamorous lifestyle like Eminem that's why they're happy with their current life, just like Em is happy with his rich & loose lifestyle right now and he doesn't want to move to a smaller house and use less money in future.

Obviously yes, I am aware, and that is definitely enough to support Eminem. You know why?Albums sales are nothing when you're not the highest selling rapper ever![]()
If anything I thought it would be less than that but thanks for backing up my point.
And yes, raising 3 kids is alot of money when your income isn't 8 mill a year...Also Em was addicted to sleeping medication and pills, lol wtf? Hardly enough to put a huge dent in his fortune while he was gone.
And have you seen "lesser" known mainstream rappers houses? Their "lifestyles"? It's more glamorous than Eminem's. The only thing Em has going for him right now is his house and his cars, he doesn't go out into parties, take world cruises, etc. like the rest of these Hollywood faggots. He doesn't even do drugs anymore. He just stays in his house.
Look at these old ass retired rappers like Run DMC and to a lesser extent, Flava Flav. They're rich as fuck (or for Flav, moderately rich) because of their royalties, because of what they did in the past. They're not even in the same galaxy as Em when it came to success, and they're set for life.
You're underestimating how much money a rapper gets because of this "THE LABEL TAKES ALL OF THE MONEY" exaggeration. Yeah, they do take most of the money, but they take care of their artist, especially when you're as big as Em.I GUARANTEE Em renews his contract with Interscope for more than a couple mill, same with every time he performs a show.
Alaine wrote:he definitely spent lots of money on pills, I think I read it on his vibe interview where he was asked how much money did he spend on drugs and he answered he spent a lot and don't wanna talk about it now. He IS rich, but he's very insecure and he already said he's afraid one day he'll be broke again, so yeah, he took the chance to make money while he can (now), I think it's understandable and not a big deal like some ppl making it out to be, it's not like he got caught stealing at the supermarket or something, he does work and got paid for his work, that's just natural.

Keyword, "Spent", and then made 8 mill the next year. There's no way in hell he spent more than that on sleeping medication, even over the course of 5 years.
And even if he said that, Em is a humble person who says he's 'afraid' of everything. He says he's 'afraid' of not being able to write again. He probably did spend a good amount of money on drugs, definitely not enough to cripple him though unless he's snorting a fuck load of coke. He said that to put emphasis on how bad his addiction was.
I'm saying he doesn't need the money and he obviously didn't need to do this commercial for money. The man is worth 110 million dollars.

well any celebrity with a known name is worth something, doesn't mean they can't go broke in future. You said it yourself, he's always afraid of something, if he's afraid of going broke and wants to do some works to make sure that won't happen, it's his right to do so. My point is, this is not a big deal and seeing some people got all worked up over it is kinda silly.
Amadeo wrote:He had to work for them?
He wrote a little 30-second monologue (which he didn't even fully write himself) and got paid more than most people get paid in a year for real toil. You call that work?
I don't even care that much, but this Lipton thing is just bizarre. I mean, this commercial would have been cool if he didn't even get paid for it, but he unabashedly accepts millions for doing nothing. What did he do with the real Eminem?
