If past problems of his were todays problems instead

Postby RainMan44 » Feb 10th, '11, 03:00

In "The Eminem Show" Em put problems he was facing during that era into his music. (Getting to FINALLY see his daughter, gun charges, getting blamed for kid's doing stupid shit, mom problems, etc.)

SO....

Let's say TES was never made. He never experienced those problems back in 2000-2002, and had instead experienced 'em this year.

Do you think if Eminem didn't have those problems back then, and instead had those problems THIS year, do you think he would still be able to lyrically come up with a "Sing For The Moment", or "Hailie's Song" or "Cleanin' Out My Closet" or a "Soldier"?

"This dude doing this interview wants me to spin a few,
Lyrics while I tie my tennis shoes in the nude
A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

Sing For The Moment wasn't made due to a personal problem of his. It was just about a people taking his lyrics to seriously but the rest, yeah.

I think he has the ability to produce another classic album with gems like those but he needs to find himself and listen to himself while absorbing the right criticism from the right people.

If he drops the punchlines and produces his next album a bit, with Dre, Khalil & Mr. Porter then that album will most likely be on-par with his first three.

I think if Em were to produce most of his next album, that we would get TES 2

The beginning of "Square Dance" makes me fucking jizz.
You know that sound that comes in?
You know what I'm talkin' about.

I love the whole album. But, I'd say my least favorite song on it would be "My Dad's Gone Crazy".....except the last verse is amazing. The first 2 verses are KIND OF Encore-ish. Not really, but a little.

The last verse of My Dad's Gone Crazy is :flutter:

Especially the beat, where Em changes it up and adds all those trippy sounds :worship:

My songs can make you cry
Take you by surprise, at the same time
Can make you dry your eyes with the same rhyme
So what you're seeing is a genius at work
Which, to me, isn't work so it's easy to misinterpret it at first
Cuz when I speak, it's tongue in cheek
I'd yank my fuckin' teeth before I'd ever bite my tongue
I'd slice my gums
Get struck by fucking lightning, twice at once

My favorite part :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

It "takes you by surprise."

You see what I did there? :shifty:

Yes it was. He made it when he was being charged with the gun possession/brandishing crimes.

Yeah but the song is not about that. The gun charge didn't cause Sing For The Moment.

Em needs to get his flow more stable, change whatever the hell he is doing with his voice in his delivery (Not just the shouting, that thing that makes him sound really fucking whiny.), get more consistent lyrically (drop the punchlines), start producing his own shit/let Dre do it, and then finally reach out to good MCs who would actually collab with you. :tounge2:

The only people who should be on his next album are Slaughterhouse & Tech N9ne.

DJ Khalil is a great producer but he's not the one for Em.
