Yeah, the idea was cool, but he still accepted a million dollars for it. :confusion:

You do realize that for him, getting a million dollars for this is like me, a regular person, getting paid $5 for shoveling my neighbour's driveway. You take the money so that they don't feel guilty.
Plus, maybe he'll use that money for some good. Even if he doesn't, since when was getting paid a bad thing? Oh he didn't earn it? He spent years building his brand name to the point where now he gets paid millions for commercials. He earned it in my book.

Eminem's not just a rapper, he's a brand. People with brands endorse products.

He earned the power to make money easily, therefore he SHOULD make money easily? Eminem was all about being rewarded for hard work.

Do you consider the Chrysler commercial Em selling out?

Yeah he does, becuase it was easy money.

He did want respect, but he also wanted to be famous a.k.a become a brand name. He wouldn't have done the corny singles like My Name Is and Without Me if he didn't want fame. He also dumped Relapse 2 and went for Recovery because he wanted fame.

So lets stop guessing and look at the facts: cheesy mainstream singles, dumping relapse 2 for a maintream album, collabing with shitty mainstream rappers, acting in movies, doing superbowl commercials, etc. = Acts of someone who wants to be famous and mainstream.

Wait what?

"He also dumped Relapse 2 and went for Recovery because he wanted fame. "

lol, just stop

What? Someone posted an article on here talking about how they specifically tried to make a more mainstream album with Recovery. Explain yourself.

My Name Is and The Real Slim Shady are well-written songs.

He already WAS famous/mainstream before those things.

He acted in 8 Mile to represent Detroit, and to find a new avenue for his music (writing songs for movies), and to venture into another artform (acting). He wasn't seeking fame.

I know he was already famous before Recovery, but outside of his core fanbase, people really didn't notice him. I'm just saying, he probably wouldn't have been offered to do two superbowl commercials this year if he had released Relapse 2 instead of Recovery.

xxTrigger1989xx wrote:"Then there was the iced tea issue. Eminem was appearing in another Super Bowl ad -- sort of. Months before, Eminem had agreed to have a claymation image of himself star in a Lipton Brisk iced tea ad. The script calls for the clay Eminem to act like a diva, complaining about the demands of doing a commercial, and how he insists in shooting in his own house so he doesn't have to go anywhere, and records his own songs. When a claymation corporate executive in the ad tells him he can't rename the product, the rap star shoves him off the roof of the building. Ouch."

That's why I don't think Em sold out on the tea commercial. Eminem was basically making fun of commercials

Lmao man that's so not the point.

The "selling-out" bit is the allowing a random company the use of your name and image, for MONEY, you SELL yourself OUT / loan yourself OUT to them, for cash. That simple.

Just because it was ironic... just makes it a good ad lmao. He could do a commercial with anybody and do that, making fun of an ad isn't particular to Lipton Ice Tea, was just his way of getting a payday and still winking at the camera.
