Yeah, the idea was cool, but he still accepted a million dollars for it.

He earned the power to make money easily, therefore he SHOULD make money easily? Eminem was all about being rewarded for hard work.
Do you consider the Chrysler commercial Em selling out?

He did want respect, but he also wanted to be famous a.k.a become a brand name. He wouldn't have done the corny singles like My Name Is and Without Me if he didn't want fame. He also dumped Relapse 2 and went for Recovery because he wanted fame.
So lets stop guessing and look at the facts: cheesy mainstream singles, dumping relapse 2 for a maintream album, collabing with shitty mainstream rappers, acting in movies, doing superbowl commercials, etc. = Acts of someone who wants to be famous and mainstream.
Wait what?
"He also dumped Relapse 2 and went for Recovery because he wanted fame. "
lol, just stop

My Name Is and The Real Slim Shady are well-written songs.dbiggie wrote:So lets stop guessing and look at the facts: cheesy mainstream singles, dumping relapse 2 for a maintream album, collabing with shitty mainstream rappers, acting in movies, doing superbowl commercials, etc. = Acts of someone who wants to be famous and mainstream.
He already WAS famous/mainstream before those things.
He acted in 8 Mile to represent Detroit, and to find a new avenue for his music (writing songs for movies), and to venture into another artform (acting). He wasn't seeking fame.

xxTrigger1989xx wrote:"Then there was the iced tea issue. Eminem was appearing in another Super Bowl ad -- sort of. Months before, Eminem had agreed to have a claymation image of himself star in a Lipton Brisk iced tea ad. The script calls for the clay Eminem to act like a diva, complaining about the demands of doing a commercial, and how he insists in shooting in his own house so he doesn't have to go anywhere, and records his own songs. When a claymation corporate executive in the ad tells him he can't rename the product, the rap star shoves him off the roof of the building. Ouch."
That's why I don't think Em sold out on the tea commercial. Eminem was basically making fun of commercials
